Background:

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. 
UN Women in Georgia supports state and non-state partners towards the achievement of substantive gender equality in Georgia. In line with international and national commitments, UN Women works on the levels of policies and legislation, institutions and grassroots, in order to achieve transformative results for increased gender equality and greater protection of the rights of women and girls.
UN Women Georgia puts special emphasis on the work towards Ending Violence Against Women, promotion and support to Women, Peace, and Security agenda in Georgia, Economic Empowerment of Women and last but not least, Mainstreaming of Gender into National Planning and Budgeting Processes. Along with these key priority areas that constitute UN Women mandate, UN Women interventions in Georgia are anchored in the UN Country Team’s Partnership for Sustainable Development Framework with the government of Georgia.
In order to enhance the understanding of various stakeholders (state agencies, private sector entities and nongovernmental organizations) on how they can promote gender equality and women’s rights in their respective industries, UN Women would like to create a Pool / Roster of National Consultants / Trainers who will be responsible for developing modules and conducting trainings in Georgia (with the possibility to travel to the regions). The exact training topics will be finalized based on the training needs assessment conducted by the consultant. 
The consultant will be reporting to UN Women Country Representative and Deputy Country Representative and will be supported by UN Women Programme Specialists and Analysts and Project Analysts as relevant, who will be the point of contact on the contract and payment issues.

Description of Responsibilities/ Scope of Work
•    To learn / take up existing UN Women training modules on gender equality, women’s rights, sexual harassment, and women’s empowerment issues.
•    To design new or adapt existing training modules / sessions for different target groups / purposes in close consultation with UN Women staff.
•    To conduct a series of trainings on gender equality, women’s rights, sexual harassment, and women’s empowerment for the training participants coming from different stakeholder groups (in Tbilisi as well as other urban and rural locations in the country as well as on-line as requested, (with the possibility to travel to the regions of Georgia).
•    To develop a detailed work plan for the assignment/s.
•    To produce a training needs assessment questionnaire and conduct an online or face-to-face needs assessment of the training participants (as needed).
•    To develop a detailed agenda and modules, presentations and relevant training materials.
•    To carry out post-training assessment questionnaire with the training participants – in line with UN Women Georgia Country Office’s relevant templates.
•    To develop and conduct analysis of pre- and post-training surveys.
•    To draft and submit the final training report outlining the training process, pre-and post-training assessments and recommendations for follow up actions, including on further capacity development needs of the participants.

Deliverables
1.    A detailed work plan for the assignment/s submitted to UN Women (3 days in advance to the training).
2.    Training needs assessment questionnaire developed, assessment conducted and analyzed (as required by UN Women) (3 days in advance to the training).
3.    Detailed agenda and modules, presentations and relevant training materials, including pre- and post-training tests (3 days in advance of the training).
4.    Pre- and post-training tests conducted and analyzed.
5.    Trainings conducted on gender equality, women’s rights, sexual harassment, women’s empowerment issues for the training participants coming from different stakeholder groups (with the possibility to travel to the regions of Georgia).
6.    The final training report in English, outlining the training process, results of the pre-and post-training assessments and recommendations for follow up actions, including on further capacity development needs of the participants written and submitted to UN Women within 3 working days from the training (5 days after the training).
 

Consultant’s Workplace and Official Travel
This is a home-based consultancy. 
This is a home-based consultancy with a possibility of travel to a few regions of Georgia for up to 20 days.

Functional Competencies:

•    Proved experience in editing and proofreading of Georgian texts.
•    Flexibility Ability to think, analyze and articulate strategically on gender equality, women’s rights.
•    Strong knowledge in gender equality, women, peace and security, and key concepts, policies, frameworks of gender.
•    Familiar with human rights terminology.
•    Technical knowledge in developing training manuals, presentations, reports and other relevant materials.
•    IT literacy.

Required Qualifications:

Education and Certification:
•    Advanced (at least Master) degree or equivalent in one or more following areas: gender/women’s studies, human rights, sociology, law, international development or related field. 
•    A first-level university degree in combination with four (4) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience:
•    At least two (2) years in case of master’s (or four (4) years with bachelor’s ) of relevant professional experience in the field of gender equality and women’s rights, criminal law; 
•    At least two (2) years in case of master’s (or four (4) years with bachelor’s ) of experience in delivering training on gender issues, sexual harassment to government officials, civil society, private sector companies or grassroots’ communities.
•    At least two (2) years in case of master’s (or four (4) years with bachelor’s) of proven experience in developing training manuals, modules and programmes.
•    Sound understanding of interactive learning methods and adult-learning techniques.
Languages:
•    Georgian (native);
•    English (fluent).
