Job Description

Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments, the private sector, and migrants. In this context, and in the Suva, Fiji Country Office with Coordination Function (COCF) covering nine countries (Fiji, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Vanuatu, Tokelau, Tuvalu, Samoa, Niue and Cook Islands). The Intern position will support the IOM Fiji COCF with Media and Communications support for the Pacific Climate Change, Migration and Human Security (PCCMHS) project covering the Pacific and managed out of the IOM Fiji COCF.

Responsibilities

Core Functions/Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will have the following duties and responsibilities:

 

  1. Support the Senior Communications and Media Assistant in managing COCF media and communication activities, which include curating and maintaining online platforms such as the website and social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.
  2. Support the Senior Communications and Media Assistant and Programme Officer in producing high quality video content and other digital information products related to IOM’s work and the PCCMHS programme in the Pacific region. 
  3. Support the maintenance of the Fiji COCF SharePoint platform and other related internal communication platforms.
  4. Support the production and dissemination of a regular PCCMHS monthly updates that will provide key communications for the project to donors and partners.
  5. Assist in Fiji based media relations and event management, including relevant training, as required.
  6. Assist the Senior Communications and Media Assistant with the maintenance and upgrade of the regional office website where required.
  7. Provide general administrative and clerical support to the Senior Communications and Media Assistant as well as the Programme Officer as required.
  8. Support the Senior Communications and Media Assistant in collaborations with media counterparts across the Regional Office, Geneva and Manila hubs to disseminate high quality media and communications output notably via online communications and social media platforms.
  9. Perform such other related duties as may be assigned.
