We act so that all children are immunized against common childhood diseases, and are well nourished: no child should suffer or die from a preventable illness. We work to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS among young people because it is right to keep them from harm and enable them to protect others. We help children and families affected by HIV/AIDS to live their lives with dignity.

For more than 70 years, UNICEF has been working on the ground in 190 countries and territories to promote children's survival, protection and development. UNICEF’s Area Programme for Palestinian children (APD) aim to further the realization of children’s rights, improve access to basic services, strengthen the protective environment and promote social inclusion of Palestinian children and women in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and State of Palestine. The Palestinian Programme in Lebanon (PPL) contributes to improving the lives of Palestine refugees by providing programmatic interventions in partnership with UNRWA and a consortium of NGOs, in areas not covered (or marginally covered) by UNRWA.

Under the supervision and guidance of the Programme Officer (PPL) National Officer , the UNV Programme Officer (Education) will support the Palestinian Programme in Lebanon (PPL) to implement, monitor, and report on the planned activities and results in the Area Programme Document (APD) and the Rolling Work Plan (RWP) for the programme aligned with country/area programme and goals and provide technical support to the programme ensuring effective and timely delivery that is consistent with UNICEF rules and regulations.

Under the direct supervision of the Programme Officer (PPL) National Officer in the Palestinian Programme, or the designated representative, the National UN Volunteer Specialist (Programme Officer – Education) will support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of education interventions targeting Palestinian children in camps and gatherings. The UN Volunteer will contribute to evidence-based programming, effective partnerships, and knowledge management to ensure quality and inclusive education opportunities for the most vulnerable children.

The UN Volunteer will perform the following key tasks:

1. Programme Planning, Development, and Management

• Provide technical support in the development of the education projects of the Palestinian Programme, including contributing to the Situation Analysis and identifying critical intervention areas.
• Assist in drafting and revising annual and multi-year work plans, monitoring frameworks, and results-based plans for the education programme.
• Propose adjustments to programme strategies and approaches based on field-level evidence and partner feedback.
• Support coordination with relevant stakeholders to ensure education activities are aligned with UNICEF’s strategic priorities and national policies.

2. Monitoring and Evaluation

• Conduct regular field visits to monitor the implementation of education and Early Childhood Education and (ECE) programme in Palestinian camps and gatherings.
• Collect and analyze data on agreed performance indicators to inform programme adjustments and improve accountability for results.
• Participate in mid-year and annual reviews with partners and government counterparts.
• Contribute to the drafting of key reporting deliverables, including the annual Palestinian Programme Status Report.

3. Partnership and Coordination

• Liaise with implementing partners and support coordination in Child Development, particularly:

o Expanding access to quality formal education and ECE services.
o Strengthening school- and community-based retention programmes.
o Promoting inclusion of children with disabilities in education and non-formal learning.

• Support efforts to build partner capacity, share best practices, and ensure alignment with humanitarian principles and inclusion standards.

4. Knowledge Management and Reporting

• Support documentation of lessons learned, and good practices related to education interventions in Palestinian camps and gatherings.
• Assist in maintaining accurate and updated databases and contribute to analysis that informs planning and advocacy.
• Support the preparation of donor reports, internal updates, and briefing notes on education-related components of the Palestinian Programme.

5. Other Duties

Perform any other related tasks as required or assigned by the supervisor to support the effective delivery of the Palestinian Programme’s education component.
