Mission and objectives
UNICEF works in the world’s toughest places to reach the most disadvantaged children and adolescents – and to protect the rights of every child, everywhere. Across more than 190 countries and territories, we do whatever it takes to help children survive, thrive and fulfill their potential, from early childhood through adolescence. The world’s largest provider of vaccines, we support child health and nutrition, safe water and sanitation, quality education and skill building, HIV prevention and treatment for mothers and babies, and the protection of children and adolescents from violence and exploitation. Before, during and after humanitarian emergencies, UNICEF is on the ground, bringing lifesaving help and hope to children and families. Non-political and impartial, we are never neutral when it comes to defending children’s rights and safeguarding their lives and futures.
Context
UNICEF Senegal must continuously and strategically place key issues related to children on the international scene, in the national dialogue and at the heart of the country’s public and political agenda. The Partnerships, Advocacy and Communications section supports the country office’s public and political advocacy, partnerships, strategic alliances and resource mobilization efforts with the aim of influencing public policies, fueling social engagement and directing private and public resources in favor of children. The section ensures that the organization is positioned as a credible and trusted voice for children and is perceived as relevant to guide and influence the dialogue on children’s rights in Senegal.
To support achievements of Country Programme expected results, UNICEF Senegal is seek-ing a motivated and committed Youth Engagement Associate to proactively provide opportuni-ties for adolescents/young people to communicate and advocate for their rights, concerns and needs; engage influencers who strengthen young peoples’ voices; create content that engag-es youth on a range of media platforms (including digital); and work with young people to speak out about their rights to a range of influential audiences, including decision makers and the private sector.
