Mission and objectives

FAO is the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, leading the international effort for a world free from hunger and malnutrition in which food and agriculture contribute to improving the living standards of all its people, especially the poorest, in an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable manner. We work to contribute to the 2030 Agenda and its global goals by promoting sustainable, inclusive and resilient food systems for better production, nutrition, environment and lives.

Context

Since 2016, we have provided technical assistance to strengthen governance, foster dialogue, and encourage the participation of communities and social organizations in food-related decision-making. We have supported the country in the development of measurements and assessments on food and nutrition security, as well as in the identification of plans, programs, and projects to address issues of hunger and malnutrition.

The Communications Office designs and implements communication strategies aimed at disseminating and publicizing the processes and results of the projects through graphic and audiovisual design products and Information, Education and Communication (IEC) strategies in line with the purposes of the projects and initiatives developed.

Similarly, FAO Colombia's communications strategy has a strong Communication for Development (C4D) component that promotes social and behavioral change in communities and is a fundamental element in the development and implementation of programs and projects.

Internal communication supports the dissemination of the organization's processes at different levels of the organization, and external communication strategies to position the Organization as a technical partner in food and agriculture issues among the media, government entities, international cooperation agencies and other groups of interest to FAO.
