ESO has implemented a new Learning & Development Policy recently, which brings with it a lot of new and interesting initiatives such as a leadership programme, communication and career coaching training, mentoring opportunities and other targeted schemes via a newly established ''Corporate Development Plan''. This plan covers foundation skills, compliance, leadership as well as soft skills training. With a forward-looking and invested approach to learning, ESO would provide an attractive environment for an early-career HR professional who wants to specialise in L&D, or who already has this specialism, to gain valuable experience in helping us get all these initiatives off the ground.

Reporting to the Learning & Development Specialist within part of the Human Resources department in Garching, the Learning & Development Coordinator is responsible for the smooth delivery of development activities under ESO's Corporate Development Plan, sourcing additional development activities for different target groups, and co-developing e-learning content for video productions, all while bringing a fresh mindset and ideas to best suit the learning needs of our staff.

If you have already gained 2-3 years of practical experience through internships or projects in the Human Resources or Learning & Development sector, and are keen to contribute your knowledge to ESO's broadening training landscape, we would love to hear from you.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Your main duties and responsibilities are to:

  • Collaborate with the Learning & Development Specialist to develop e-learning content and produce videos on different Learning & Development topics for different audiences;
  • Support the preparation of internal communication on staff development offers;
  • Support the delivery of online and onsite training courses and review their effectiveness;
  • Be creative and propose new and different learning formats for activities where required;
  • Coordinate training courses of the ESO Corporate Development Plan, which includes sending of diary invitations, organizing rooms and equipment;
  • Ensure learning materials are available to delegates on time and are regularly updated; and
  • Provide administrative support to the Learning & Development Specialist, including reporting, managing certifications and qualifications in ESO's HRIS, maintain records and data such as course attendance, cancellation quotes, and process invoice payments.

Key Competences and Experience:

Essential Competences and Experience

  • Positive attitude and proven service orientation in previous roles;
  • Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing;
  • Effective time management: ability to work to deadlines in a structured and organised way;
  • Evidence of creativity and solution generation, with ability to translate ideas into e.g. concrete learning formats or content;
  • Full proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Desirable Competences and Experience

  • First experience with e-learning content creation and video production;
  • Knowledge of learning theories and organisational development concepts;
  • Proactive self-starter - ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team.

Qualifications:

A completed secondary education and 2-3 years of practical experience in the Human Resources or Learning & Development sector are a must. A diploma in HR which includes L&D and / or OD, or studies in communication or Instructional Technology & Design will be an advantage, as well as experience of working in an international environment.

Language skills:

The position requires full fluency in English, both oral and written.
