Job Overview: 

Are you passionate about making a real difference in people's lives?  Join IRC as an Employer Engagement Coordinator and play a pivotal role in helping refugee and other humanitarian immigrant clients retain and advance within their chosen fields. 

As the Employer Engagement Coordinator, you’ll build and maintain employer partnerships to deliver workplace-based training for the Providing Access to Refugees through Training, New skills, English & Readiness (PARTNER) program.  You will create and deliver tailored "Engaging & Advancing with Refugee Workers" packages by conducting workplace assessments to evaluate employer requirements.  Additionally, you will ensure timely and quality implementation of the PARTNER program to aid clients in their successful long-term employment and career advancement!

Responsibilities: 

Include, but are not limited to:

  • Deliver workplace English training, develop job-specific skills, and create personalized career pathways.
  • Create employer relationships, secure MOUs, and collaboratively develop need-based workplace training plans.
  • Establish connections, build referral pathways, match clients with advancement opportunities, and collaborate with partners to support refugee retention and career progression.
  • Research local initiatives, track employer/client challenges, and provide data-driven recommendations to improve program efficiency.
  • Offer comprehensive employer support by conducting regular check-ins and quarterly meetings, providing vital technical assistance to develop positive relationships.
  • Design and align training with employers' needs assessment and client work-skills plans to ensure they meet both employer and client needs.
  • Improve client outcomes through coordinated support by ensuring Employment Engagement Specialists provide comprehensive, strength-based services via seamless case coordination and interdepartmental communication.
  • Participate in all program meetings, staff development activities, and fully engage as a member of the team.
  • Adhere to program agency guidelines by aligning with all established policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Position Reports to: Program Supervisor

Position directly supervises: Employees, Volunteers and Interns

Indirect Supervision: N/A

Internal: Collaborate with other departments, especially when caseloads overlap. Coordinate with Finance, Community Relations, and Development teams.

External: Community-based organizations, employers, educational institutions and workforce agencies.

Job Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Social Work, Social Sciences, Education or a related field, or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ proven experience in immigrant services, workforce development, or economic empowerment preferred.
  • Supervisory or mentoring experience desired.
  • Proven experience in guiding clients through the US job search process.  Knowledge of the Silver Spring job market is a bonus.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and supervise volunteers and interns.
  • Proven success in achieving goals, communication and working effectively in a multifaceted, multi-cultural environment.
  • Proven track record to contribute independently and as a team member.
  • Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills, able to multi-task, prioritize, take initiative, and manage time effectively.
  • Proficient in English, both spoken and written; bilingual ability in Amharic, Dari, French, Haitian-Creole, Kinyarwanda, Pashto, Spanish, or Swahili is desired.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and online databases.
  • Possess a valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and current insurance to facilitate travel for on-site visits and client interactions.

Working Environment

  • The role combines office tasks, remote work, and on-site visits within the service area.
  • May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.

Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget.  Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
