POSITION OVERVIEW
Under
the supervision of the Women Protection and Empowerment Officer, the WPE
Assistant will be responsible for supporting the WPE Officer in the
administrative aspects of WPE activities for girls, women, boys and men, in
close collaboration with IRC’s community facilitators. In addition, he/she will
supporting administratively for distributions, and responsible for data entry, other
administrative responsibilities as assigned by the WPE Officer. The WPE Assistant
will have good organisational capabilities to ensure that WPE activities and
GBV risk reduction activities are implemented in line with IRC’s program
guidelines and according to CP and GBV minimum standards and principles. The WPE
Assistant will be based in Deir-Al-Balah and report to the WPE Officer.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Support activities
for girls, boys, women and men:
1-Help in setting schedules for weekly activities for adolescents and adults
2-Assist the WPE officer in monitoring community facilitators to engage with adolescents in a positive way, using a child-centered approach
3-Enter weekly plan for community facilitators to the schedule
4-Assist the Community Facilitators to refer adolescents and women who are experiencing GBV to case management
5-Answer questions from community members adolescents, adults, and parents / caregivers about IRC’s implemented activities
6-Support in conducting M&E activities as requested to support quality programming
7-Assist with Prevention of Sexual Abuse and Exploitation by conducting ongoing PSEA risk assessment
8-Support in identifying key protection risks and gaps in GBV response services that are available to the community and share concerns with the WPE Officer / within IRC, protection actors and other relevant stakeholders
Administration
& Reporting:
1-Ensure that registers of adolescents and adults attending sessions are accurately recorded and reported.
2-Ensure that attendance sheets are entered and reported weekly to the WPE Officer material needs are reported, and support other administrative tasks as required
3-Report supply/material needs to the WPE Officer
4-Support in completing monthly reporting to AORs and internal reporting
5-Complete relevant activity trackers and contribute to activity reports, according to the guidance provided by the WPE Officer
Other:
1-Actively develop, coordinate, and maintain effective working relationships with WPE and rest of protection team.
2-Actively take part in relevant WPE coordination meetings at the community level
3-Attend training organized by the IRC.
4-Stay informed about the child protection situation and developments within the communities and surrounding areas.
5-Consistently and proactively monitor the safety and security of field teams, promptly reporting concerns or incidents to IRC management and liaising with other external parties as required to maintain/enhance the security environment.
6-Promote and adhere to the principles, objectives and code of conduct of the IRC.
7-Act both professionally and personally in a manner that brings credit to the IRC and does not compromise its humanitarian mission.
8-If necessary, provide translation and interpretation at meetings, training sessions and/or documents for a better understanding of all staff.
9-Assist identifying new implementing partners and arrange meetings with partners to discuss their program implementation when necessary.
10-Conduct any other task requested by his/her supervisor to enable and develop IRC programs
Minimum Qualifications:Qualifications
1-Degree desired in Social Work, Psychology, Education, Human Rights, Social Science, Humanities or other related field.
2-At least 1-2 years’ experience in implementing child protection programs, preferably in the field of WPE programming for children, parenting programs for caregivers, and GBV risk reduction in humanitarian or development settings.
3-Demonstrated understanding of working with children who have been affected by conflict, disasters or other humanitarian crises, particularly unaccompanied and separated children and children at-risk of violence, exploitation, abuse or neglect.
4-Clear understanding of and interest in the well-being of children and supporting their healing after the experience of violence
5-Experience with community work, community mobilization and engagement, and working with children affected by conflict
6-Positive and professional attitude, including ability to lead and work well in a team setting.
7-Comfortable speaking about sensitive topics in an honest, professional, and thoughtful manner
8-Demonstrated ability to liaise with partner organizations.
9-Good organizational and planning skills.
10-High degree of flexibility and strong ability to organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.
11-Highly motivated, interested and eager to learn.
12-Fluency in Arabic; good English skills.
13-Available to travel within Gaza, as required.
