Overview of positionChelsea Energie (part of the Chelsea Group) is seeking a Junior Accountant to join their team. The role will be situated in Antananarivo, Madagascar & will report to the Financial Controller of the group company. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, excellent analytical skills & adept at using new technologies.
We welcome candidates who would like to study towards the ACCA qualification. The related study & examination fees will be funded by the company subject to conditions, as well as ongoing membership fees.
Key tasks & responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Maintain accurate & up to date financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable, receivable & payroll processing.
Assist in the preparation & processing of invoices, receipts & payments.
Reconcile bank statements & ensure that all transactions are accurately recorded.
Assist in the preparation of management reports, financial summaries & variance analysis.
Assist in the preparation of budgets & forecasts as required.
Liaise with other departments to ensure timely & accurate flow of financial information.
Where required, interact with independent external auditors & third party service providers.
Perform any ad hoc tasks as required by the Financial Controller.
This role reports to the Financial Controller of the group company.
Key competenciesUniversity degree in accounting, finance or related field.
Minimum of 3 years work experience.
Work experience in a power plant will be considered an advantage.
Has good knowledge & understanding of the local labour & tax laws.
Attention to detail in maintaining books & records & financial calculations.
Strong analytical & problem solving skills.
Excellent communication & interpersonal skills, keen to work in a supportive yet dynamic environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & competent with usage of new technologies.
Knowledge of Sage accounting system will be considered an advantage.
An innovative mindset that is always looking to enhance the processes around them.
A strong personal drive to grow, develop & seek more responsibility within the group.
This role has no team management responsibility.
