Overview of position

• Chelsea Energie (part of the Chelsea Group) is seeking a Junior Accountant to join their team. The role will be situated in Antananarivo, Madagascar & will report to the Financial Controller of the group company. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, excellent analytical skills & adept at using new technologies.

• We welcome candidates who would like to study towards the ACCA qualification. The related study & examination fees will be funded by the company subject to conditions, as well as ongoing membership fees.

Role objectives

Key tasks & responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Maintain accurate & up to date financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable, receivable & payroll processing.

• Assist in the preparation & processing of invoices, receipts & payments.

• Reconcile bank statements & ensure that all transactions are accurately recorded.

• Assist in the preparation of management reports, financial summaries & variance analysis.

• Assist in the preparation of budgets & forecasts as required.

• Liaise with other departments to ensure timely & accurate flow of financial information.

• Where required, interact with independent external auditors & third party service providers.

• Perform any ad hoc tasks as required by the Financial Controller.

Project reporting

This role reports to the Financial Controller of the group company.

Key competencies

• University degree in accounting, finance or related field. 

• Minimum of 3 years work experience.

• Work experience in a power plant will be considered an advantage. 

• Has good knowledge & understanding of the local labour & tax laws.

• Attention to detail in maintaining books & records & financial calculations.

• Strong analytical & problem solving skills.

• Excellent communication & interpersonal skills, keen to work in a supportive yet dynamic environment.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & competent with usage of new technologies.

• Knowledge of Sage accounting system will be considered an advantage.

• An innovative mindset that is always looking to enhance the processes around them.

• A strong personal drive to grow, develop & seek more responsibility within the group.

Team management

This role has no team management responsibility.
