The Judiciary of Uganda is established under Article 126 (1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda. Under this Article, the courts are mandated to exercise judicial power in the name of the people and in conformity with the law, values, norms, and aspirations of the people. To fulfill this mandate, the Judiciary works closely with different stakeholders particularly the people of Uganda to promote an organisational culture of innovation, learning and continuous improvement; and lead the process of transformation among justice, law, and order institutions.
The International Development Law Organization (IDLO) through its Programmes seeks to enhance access to justice for vulnerable and marginalised communities through the adoption of people-centred approaches in the delivery of justice.
