The Scope
Leads the implementation of the streamlining principles, digitalization of the normative framework, development of technology solutions relevant for P&P work (data collection, accessibility, engagement).
Oversees and facilitates policy alignment activities with regulatory instruments and voluntary initiatives for best practices.

Main Roles & Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Management
  • Provide exemplary leadership and mentoring to staff, with special focus on direct reports.
  • To foster and exemplify the continuous drive for excellence and improvement, including learning by mistakes.
  • To drive, coach, nurture and inspire the PSU Team to achieve a high sense of belonging, trust and fulfilment, as well as enable team members to deliver a high level of performance.
  • To exercise the above leadership in the spirit of the FSC Leadership Principles.
  • To regularly conduct required performance evaluations, including quarterly evaluations.
  • To oversee the establishment and implementation of effective and outcome-oriented work plans based on considerate annual budgets and in line with organizational strategies and priorities. 
  • To ensure timely and quality delivery of all projects within supervision responsibility within the planned budget, following highest project management standards.

Programmatic focus
  • Oversee and facilitate policy alignment activities with regulatory instruments, benchmarks, and voluntary initiatives for best practices (e.g., ISEAL).
  • Contribute to the development and ensure implementation of the Implementation Framework for the FSC Global Strategy.
  • Manage the resource and work planning of the unit, for example, staff planning and development, financial and work planning and management, procurement etc.
  • Manage collaboration on operational aspects within the FSC Secretariat, including representing and communicating on behalf of the unit (e.g., project management, budget planning, recruitment, salary reviews).
  • Participate in meetings and other activities of the senior management of FSC. 
  • Collaborate with process owners on identifying and implementing improvements of organizational processes.
  • Ensure state-of-the art agile project management practices with high level of consistency within the unit and interoperability across Departments and programs.
Your profile
  • At least 15 years of professional experience (in total), including experience in the following areas: business administration, project management, quality management, standard-setting, certification or accreditation. 
  • Experience in forest management, ecology or nature conservation is a plus. Other fields requiring management of medium to long term projects is a plus.
  • High level of familiarity with ISEAL standard setting practices and ISO requirements and accreditation requirements.
  • At least 10 years of leadership experience, including formal supervision of diverse, multicultural teams (can be in total throughout professional career).
  • Proven record (documented by references) of successful management and delivery by multicultural large team(s).
  • Experience in hiring and dismissal processes.
  • Project management certification or proven records of successful completion of large projects.
  • Proven record of working with content evaluation and management of documents.

The Fine Print
  • Location: Bonn, Germany.
  • Working Hours: Full time - 40 hours per week.
  • Duration of Employment: Temporary contract - 2 years (extension possible, subject to satisfactory performance).
