Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationship
The position of Senior Programs Assistant is assigned in India Resident Mission (INRM) within the South Asia Department (SARD). You will be based at our India Resident Mission in New Delhi, India.
You will report to designated International Staff and Officer.
Your Role
As a Senior Programs Assistant, you will provide statistical, analytical and administrative support for country programming and economic and sector work, including assistance in maintaining a database relevant to ADB operations.
You will:
- Assist in ADB country programming and economic missions, and develop a database on country operations, including, among others, analysis of sector/subsector allocation and strategic development objectives for ADB loan and technical assistance (TA) operations
- Participate in in-country sector coordination meetings, take minutes of meetings and facilitate inter-agency coordination·
- Help maintain quality control on the loan and TA profiles and develop a database on country operations
- Assist in developing sector intelligence in the areas relevant to ADB's operations
- Liaise with concerned Government agencies on the processing status for loans and TAs·
- Assist in maintaining and updating a results management database and policy related information·
- Assist in monitoring socio-economic trends and government policy developments· Assist with preparation of results related policy papers and technical notes.
- Assist in the preparation and dissemination of information on the ADB's operations in the Resident Mission to concerned agencies and the general public.
- Assist in preparing press releases, newsletters and other publications.
- Assist in project processing missions of assigned projects by providing sector information as required and following up pending issues·
- Provide support in implementation of assigned projects by providing administrative support which includes recruitment of consultants, organizing tripartite meeting, and preparing relevant correspondence·
- Assist in monitoring the progress of assigned projects, participate in review missions as requested, analyze project issues, and make recommendations as appropriate.
- Participate in preparing briefing papers for ADB missions to the RM involving senior staff and management·
- Perform other tasks as assigned and reflected in your incumbent's workplan
Qualifications
You will need:
- Bachelor's degree in Economics or similar area; preferably advanced university degree.
- Suitability to undertake the responsibilities mentioned above at the required level.
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience; experience in international agencies will be preferred.
- Proficiency in the use of common office information technology (word-processing, spreadsheets and graphics, PowerPoint and web browsing) and search engines.
- Experience performing structured tasks such as transactions, research, or analysis, based on defined procedures and guidance.
- Experience conducting cost-benefit analysis to support decision-making.
- Experience in report-writing and communicating in English and the national language
- Experience coordinating with government counterparts and collaborating with colleagues across departments or sectors.
- Able to work collaboratively with teams as a constructive team member.
- Written and verbal proficiency in English and local language (as applicable)

Additional Information
This opening is a local staff position. It is open only to nationals and residents of India.
This is a fixed term appointment with option to renew for an initial period of three (3) years following Section 3.1 (b) of Administrative Order No. 2.01 ("Recruitment and Appointment'). This appointment is not convertible to a regular appointment. At the end of the initial period, this appointment may be renewed for a period of up to three years, or not renewed. There is no limit on the number of renewals. This appointment is open to internal and external applicants.
