Job Description
The MENA region faces complex health challenges related to human mobility and migration. To address these issues, a regional forum titled “Strengthening Multisectoral Partnerships for Human Mobility and Health for Resilient Public Health Systems” will be organized to foster collaboration among countries, UN agencies, civil society, and healthcare providers.
The regional forum aims to enhance multi-sectoral coordination, strengthen health systems in the context of migration, promote the exchange of best practices, and develop a regional reference guide to inform policy and practice. The forum brings together stakeholders from multiple countries, UN agencies, civil society, and healthcare providers to foster collaboration, share experiences, and develop actionable strategies aligned with international frameworks such as the SDGs and the GCM.
The overall purpose of this consultancy is to facilitate the successful planning, coordination, and execution of the regional forum, including facilitating discussions, capturing key outcomes, and preparing comprehensive reports and a regional reference guide. The consultant will ensure that the objectives of the forum are achieved through effective facilitation, documentation, and synthesis of discussions and recommendations.
Responsibilities
The primary objective of this consultancy is to facilitate the regional forum effectively and produce a comprehensive report and reference guide. Specifically, the consultant will:
- Facilitate forum discussions to ensure active participation and constructive dialogue among stakeholders
- Capture key discussions, recommendations, and best practices from the forum sessions.
- Develop a comprehensive regional reference guide on health and migration, consolidating outcomes, strategies, and recommendations.
- Provide strategic guidance to ensure the forum’s objectives are met and that outputs support policy development and regional health system strengthening.
The consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:
Planning and preparation
- Review background documents, agenda, and key materials related to the forum.
- Develop a facilitation plan and session guides to ensure effective moderation of discussions.
- Coordinate with organizing agencies to understand expectations and logistical arrangements.
Facilitation during the forum
- Facilitate the forum sessions, ensuring inclusive participation, timely discussions, and adherence to the agenda.
- Manage discussion flow, encourage stakeholder engagement, and handle any unforeseen issues that may arise.
- Document key points, decisions, and action items.
Documentation and reporting
- Compile detailed minutes, including key discussion points, decisions, and agreed-upon actions.
- Draft a comprehensive regional reference guide on health and migration, integrating best practices, recommendations, and strategies discussed during the forum.
- Develop a final report summarizing the forum proceedings, outcomes, and strategic recommendations.
Development of regional reference guide
- Consolidate the results, best practices, and recommendations from the forum.
- Assist in the drafting of a regional reference guide on health and migration, targeted at policymakers and healthcare professionals.
- Ensure the guide aligns with international frameworks such as GCM and SDGs.
Qualifications
- Advanced Degree: Master’s degree or higher in public health, global health, epidemiology, development Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in public health, international development, or related fields, with significant experience in facilitating multi-stakeholder forums or meetings.
- Strong understanding of human mobility, health systems, and multisectoral partnership development.
- Familiarity with the concepts of resilient public health systems and the social determinants of health related to mobility.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop comprehensive reports and documentation for high-level forums, including summaries, recommendations, and strategic insights.
- Experience working with regional and international organizations, UN agencies, or governments on issues related to human mobility and health is highly desirable.
