Overall purpose of the role: DRC is looking for a Protection coordinator to oversee DRC’s protection program. The Protection coordinator will advise on program design and implementation, global standards and innovative approaches, staff and training capacity building, with the aim of building a cohesive, well-coordinated and high quality protection response across multiple locations.
About the job:
The individual will report directly to the Head of Programme. Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
- Leads the technical design of the Protection program, in collaboration with the HoP. This includes assessing the current contextual situation and needs in each base or proposed area of operation, assessing the response capacities of DRC in each base and identifying intervention niches for the organization.
- Conducts regular quality assessments of DRC Jordan’s programming, and provides recommendations to improve structure, quality and programmatic harmonization.
- Develop high quality Protection manuals in English and Arabic, based on the identified needs in each base and the strategic priority areas outlined in the program strategy.
- Provides high quality capacity building for protection staff on core methods and practices.
- Provides structured technical supervision for field staff through regular field visits and mentoring.
- Provides one – on – one technical supervision to counselors working in each base.
- Strengthens program learning, monitoring and documentation on Protection, in collaboration with the M&E team.
- Represent DRC at the Protection working groups.
- Develop and strengthen relationships with networks and other stakeholders working on MHPSS to ensure linkages and alignment for DRC programming.
- Contributes to future project development and proposal writing for projects relating to Protection.
- Provides capacity building for DRC staff on protection topics, as requested by the HoP.
About you
To be successful in this role we expect that you possess the following:
- At least 5 years of experience offering Protection programming in international organizations and humanitarian settings. Experience providing both group and individual services will be an advantage.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination and safety of client at all times;
- Computer Literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility.
- Comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well.
- Flexibility in working overtime when needed;
- Previous experience working with Syrian refugees in Jordan
- Fluency in written and spoken Arabic & English
