What we do
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and, at the same time, promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.
Purpose
First aid and prehospital emergency care (FAPHEC) officer contributes to implementing and monitoring the FAPHEC programs in cooperation with the health team, according to the objectives set out in the delegation's annual planning (Planning for Results) for a specific geographic area or field of activities. Based on the skills required for this position, s/he has the capacity to oversee programmes with a degree of autonomy (e.g. delegations with remote management) and/or deliver services with autonomy (e.g. hospital settings) and contributes actively to planning and coordinating health activities at field level.
Accountabilities & Functional responsibilities
- Implements health programmes within his/her geographic area or field of responsibility/ expertise.
- Assists the Health team in designing operational strategies and planning the health programme(s) at local/facility and national levels.
- Conducts assessments and regular field visits (when relevant) to monitor activities and health-related threats to the population.
- Facilitate training courses to relevant healthcare workers and prehospital care providers.
- Ensures proper management of information collected and appropriate, relevant reporting.
- Participates in analysis of and reflection on the overall prehospital care; contributes to realistic project proposals in line with the delegation's objectives and priorities.
- Helps organize meetings; advises staff members on various matters such as culture, politics, the economy, security, etc.
- Interprets at meetings and translates documents into local languages.
- Liaises and builds networks with local stakeholders to facilitate communication on and coordination of activities, thereby ensuring more efficient implementation of health programmes. Represents the ICRC vis-à-vis national authorities.
Certifications / Education required:
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Paramedic, Nurse, Doctor or any relevant field.
- Academic qualifications as a Prehospital Emergency Care or Emergency Medical Technician are considered.
- Other relevant field of studies may be considered with extensive prehospital experience.
Professional Experience required
- 5 years overall professional experience in Prehospital Emergency Care, including 2 years of training experience with minimum 2 years’ experience in the humanitarian sector.

What we offer
- Salary Package: 2’037 – 2’926 USD/Month (As per ICRC salary scale, salary setting processes will determine fair setting in coherence with the qualifications of the applicant and the requirements of the job).
- 13th Month of salary paid in December, pro rata basis in accordance with the period worked.
- Annual Leave: 20 calendar working days of paid leave per year, pro rata basis in accordance with the period worked.
- Health Insurance: 90% of premium fees under class B, coverage include: Doctor visits, Medicines, Therapy services, etc.
- International Retirement Saving Plan (IRSP): a contribution valued at 11.5% of your monthly salary, these savings are paid by the end of service as a lump sum.

- Location: Beirut - Lebanon
- Working Schedule: Monday to Friday, from 8am to 5pm.
