By 2030, Inkomoko Chad will work with more than 19,100 refugee and host community entrepreneurs, providing a combination of training, consulting, and access to finance/investment. All of our services ensure that businesses in Chad can thrive and contribute to the growth of Chad’s economy.
Founded in 2012, Inkomoko has worked with over 100,000 entrepreneurs across East Africa. Inkomoko has 700+ staff in 30 offices across Rwanda, Kenya, Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Chad. We are the largest lender to refugee entrepreneurs in Africa.
Through Inkomoko’s 2030 strategic plan, we are adding 3 additional countries to improve the lives of more than 7.6M people by serving more than 550,000 entrepreneurs and investing $150M into refugee & host communities across Africa.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY & RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to Internal Audit and Risk Manager in providing independent, objective assurance and advisory service to Management on the effectiveness of the Inkomoko’s policies, procedures, internal controls, and governance processes facing the country offices to ensure the achievement of the Inkomoko’s strategic goals.
Internal Audit - 70%
- Implement an internal audit plan aligned to Inkomoko's strategic goals, by carrying out a complete internal audit cycle.
- Evaluate existing areas of risks and controls within the fund, assess them in order of priority, and suggest ways of mitigation in all departments.
- Design audit programs and ensure their implementation through audits and reviews for all departments and programs.
- Conduct risk-based audits and system compliance audits both at the fund and its intermediaries and recommend improvements.
- Regular reviews to monitor the implementation of action plans to address internal control deficiencies.
- Monitoring the implementation of findings raised through external audits.
- Reviewing and advising on compliance levels through regular appraisal of the actual operations versus the policies and procedures so as to maintain reasonable and applicable levels of compliance.
- Provide advice, challenge and support to multidisciplinary teams in developing, implementing and evaluating strategic management plans, in order to improve organizational effectiveness.
- Preparation of periodic progress reports, and annual reports showing achievements of the internal audit function.
- Must be able to travel within the country and internationally as required for audit field work in office locations where required.
- Discuss internal audit findings with process owners, doing exit meetings and following up to ensure closure of the issues raised.
- Conversant with country statutory,legal and compliance requirements e.g Taxes.
Risk management - 30%
- Conduct regular risk assessments reviews in all departments to identify areas of weakness and monitor implementation of corrective actions.
- Guide and support the organization's management team on proper risk mitigation measures.
- Follow up with the risk owners identified in the risk register and ensure it is updated with mitigation measures and supporting documentation.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We're looking for candidates who are both fluent in English & French with technical skills in finance, plus alignment with company vision and values. Successful candidates must navigate fast-paced environments with enthusiasm and incredible attention to details. This position is open to candidates currently based in Rwanda.
Minimum qualifications include:
- Have an undergraduate degree in business management, finance or equivalent field of study.
- Hold professional audit qualification in CPA or ACCA. Other relevant certifications such as CRMA, CIA, CISA are a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience, preferably with external audit firms and donor-funded organizations.
- Analytical thinking- Ability to analyze complex data, identify patterns, and draw meaningful conclusions to assess the effectiveness of internal controls.
- Demonstrate proven communication, presentation, and documentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate within the organization and externally.
- Possess excellent written and spoken English & French.
