The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) internship program (also called "Grow Green" Program) provides a unique learning opportunity for students and recent graduates from diverse academic backgrounds. The program is designed for talented and motivated individuals skilled in areas relevant to GGGI’s operations. The program allows selected candidates to gain insight into the work of the Institute and provides assistance and training in various professional fields in a multicultural environment. CURRENT OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a talented individual to work with us in the GGGI Indonesia Country Program’s Green Investment Team. The Green Investment Team through Sustainable Landscape Investment Partnership Project in Indonesia which GGGI provides various support functions to a range of government partners to enhance and deliver green investment for enhancing natural capital assets as well as supporting green growth development in national and sub-national level. The intern will be responsible for providing technical and administrative assistance for the project to ensure prompt, responsive, accountable, and high-quality program delivery.  

 

OBJECTIVES

Under the supervision of the Investment Associate, the Green Investment intern is expected to learn, research, and deliver analysis about the sustainable landscape investment, FOLU Net Sink 2030, NDCs and national and international commitments in emission reduction in the forestry sector of Indonesia. The intern should assist to the content of the work. The intern will also assist in all event preparation and implementation including writing minutes and translation and help consultants with their administration. The intern shall assist the team in developing communications material, as required.

 

PURPOSE

The intern will assist in a wide range of administration tasks and will support the technical delivery of the ongoing work under the green investment workstreams of GGGI, particularly in the Project. The intern will gain hands-on experience and training in many aspects of technical, administration, and management, while also gaining a good understanding of an inter-governmental organization as well as valuable exposure to investment work (enabling and mobilization) in landscape, green growth development, and climate change issues. The intern will also gain experience in communicating with key government officials to further help his/her build a network during the internship period and beyond.

The assignment will include the following but not be limited to:

  • Provide support for research and analysis on enabling investment and investment mobilization in the sustainable landscape at national and sub-national, particularly regulations and policies as well as instruments and modalities from key government partners and relevant national and international organizations.
  • Develop communication material for the project and issues related to sustainable landscape investment initiative in Indonesia, in form of teasers, presentations, info briefs, media social contents, etc. This will be conducted in collaboration with Communication Team of GGGI Indonesia.
  • Involve in engagement with key government partners and sub-national government partners, as and when needed, including assisting in developing materials required (such as PowerPoint Presentation (PPT), Minutes of meetings (MoM), etc).
  • Provide general support to the program activities and support the preparation, implementation, and post-activity of events including meetings and workshops, not limited to confirmation of participants, arranging venues, supporting the development of Terms of Reference, notetaking, documentation, organization of the attendance list and payments.
  • In close collaboration with Senior Project Assistant of the Project, assisting in project management including ensuring the project tracker, procurement tracker, and workplan tracker are well-develop, updated, and informed regularly to the Project team.
  • Support the Investment Team and consultants in completing the procedures, policies, and administrative tools for travel, workshops, and other administrative arrangements.
  • Assist with events and meetings, including notetaking, documentation, organization of the attendance list, and reimbursements.
  • Willing to travel in and out of duty station as deemed necessary for the project’s needs with the Project team.
  • Carry out other activities as directed by the supervisor in support of the investment team.
  • Commit to work full-time (40 hours per week) from July 2025 to December 2025. This position will not allow to have other related side work that disturbs and creates inefficient services to this role. Any violation of the rule may lead to the termination of the contract.

 

ELIGIBILITY                                               

Applicants to the GGGI internship program must at the time of application meet the following requirements:

  • Recent graduate of bachelor's or master's within the last 12 months.
  • Be engaged or recently engaged in academic study in a field directly related to GGGI’s work
  • Possess an excellent command of English and able to produce written material.

 

QUALIFICATION
  • A bachelor’s or master's degree in forestry, environmental management, sustainable development, economy or any related field.
  • Having a minimum of 3 months of work experience will be an advantage.
  • Strong oral and written English with a proven record of IELTS/TOEFL, and fluency in Indonesian is essential.
  • A pro-active attitude, with an ability to innovate in finding solutions.
  • Highly organized with an eye for detail and ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with multi-cultural and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong skill in using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Good level of proficiency in computer illustration applications (e.g. Canva, Adobe Illustrator, etc)
  • Experience/knowledge of forestry and climate change issues is an asset.
  • Experience/knowledge of investment and green growth issues is an asset.
  • Applicants are encouraged to attach a portfolio of relevant work (e.g. reports, graphics, presentations, policy briefs, studies, or any other relevant materials) or include a link in the CV to an online portfolio (e.g. Google Drive, or personal website) as part of the application.
 
SELECTION PROCESS
  • Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
  • GGGI evaluates applications based on eligibility requirements, relevance of academic study and work experience (if any); and the level of interest and motivation to contribute to development work.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Duration: The internship program is for at least three months and up to four months. Once selected, interns must begin their internship either prior to or within 12 months of graduation. 

Stipend: GGGI interns receive a monthly stipend of USD $500 per month (unless agreed to be funded by sponsoring institutions). All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by either the interns themselves or sponsoring institutions.  

Visa: GGGI will provide a supporting letter for visa. Interns will be responsible for obtaining and financing the necessary visas.  

Travel: Intern will arrange and finance their travel to the internship location.  

Medical Insurance: Interns must present proof of valid medical insurance to GGGI upon returning the signed internship contract.

Confidentiality: Interns must keep confidential all unpublished information obtained during the course of the internship and may not publish any documents based on such information.  

Academic Credit: Interns may get academic credit from their institution of higher education for the internship. Interns need to check with their university to confirm their academic credit policy for internships.  

Working Hours: interns are expected to work during normal working hours. Leave should be pre-approved by the Intern Manager, and the latter should inform the Office of HR accordingly.

Learning Outcomes: before completion of the internship, Intern Managers are expected to review the learning outcomes with the intern.

Certificate: provided upon successful completion of the internship, upon request.
