Job Purpose

Contribute to the development and Implementation of the business Strategy of the Institute. Identify gaps between the products and services offered by the Institute and market needs. Identify potential business opportunities for the Institute and carry out feasibility studies for identified opportunities.

Key Accountabilities

Strategic & Operational Planning:

• Play a key role in the development and implementation of a multi-year, multi-pronged business development strategy to increase IRTI’s revenue.

• Contribute to the Annual Work Plans and budget formulation of the Team.

• Develop a business plans to identify gaps between the products and services being offered by the Institute and what is needed in the market and by the IsDB Member Countries.

• Collaborate with the management to develop annual and medium-term business plans.

• Contribute to the pricing strategies of IRTI’s products and services taking into account the market needs, competition and IRTI’s standing.

Policies, Processes & Procedures:

• Participate in the implementation of frameworks, policies, procedures and guidelines for IRTI and specific to the Business Development function.

• Periodically review policies, processes and procedures impacting the Institute business and ensure that adequate controls are in place to minimize risk.

Business Development:

• Identify potential business opportunities for the Institute and carry out feasibility studies for identified opportunities.

• Identify potential clients, both at institutional and individual level, understand their needs and work with them to gain business orders.

• Working closely with the Knowledge Leaders and Knowledge Solutions, assess the current product portfolio(s) of the Institute, identify market needs and recommend any changes to the product portfolios.

• Collaborate with the Knowledge Horizons Team for promotional efforts to attract business opportunities for the Institute for generating long-term steady stream of business.

• Keep track of the competition and market for similar products and services and share the relevant information with Teams in IRTI.

Knowledge Sharing & Innovation:

• In coordination with Knowledge Horizons, develop plans for the dissemination and showcasing of IRTI’s research works and solutions amongst the target audiences.

• Keep abreast with the latest trends and best practices in the area of Islamic Finance and Economics and adopt the same in the Institute.

• Collaborate with other departments/entities within IsDB Group as well as other international and regional institutions, including MDB’s, for sharing knowledge and benchmarking research works, knowledge products and solutions.

Reporting & Communication:

• Contribute to the preparation of operational reports, industry reports and specific reports for the Management.

• Take part in the collection and analysis of data/information related to the wide-ranging developmental economic issues, current economic trends, practices, and updates focusing on Islamic Finance and the challenges facing the Member Countries.

Academic and professional qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Development, Marketing or related field.

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in business development, sales or marketing in relevant fields.
