Regional Context
The World Bank Group serves 30 client countries in the Latin America and the Caribbean Region (LCR). Clients range from large rapidly growing sophisticated middle-income countries to IDA countries to small Caribbean states to one fragile state. Country Unit and Position Context
LCC6 is the Country Management Unit (CMU) responsible for overseeing the World Bank’s program in Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador & Peru. The Bolivia program includes approximately US$1 billion in lending commitments being implemented in 6 projects mainly in infrastructure services and agriculture. The Bolivia office is home to approximately 20 staff, responsible for supporting the delivery of the financial, knowledge and convening activities under this program.
The Bolivia Country Office is searching for a Senior Driver to provide high quality transport and administrative support to the Country Office, as well as other tasks detailed in this TOR. The Senior Driver reports directly to the Executive Assistant.
This is an ET Temporary Country Office position, and it is in La Paz, Bolivia.
Role & Responsibilities:
Driver Transport and Maintenance Functions
•Drive official vehicle safely for the transport of the Country Manager, principally, and other authorized personnel
•Permanent transport support for the Country Manager's agenda with the support of the EA to ensure the agenda is executed in a timely manner.
•Undertake the day-to-day maintenance and cleaning of the assigned vehicle, check gasoline, oil, water, battery, brakes, signal lights, tires, etc.; make minor repairs (and arrange for other repairs) and adjustments such as fixing punctures, replacing signal lights, replacing wiper blades, cleaning or replacing spark plugs, etc.
•Log trips, mileage, gasoline consumption, oil changes, greasing and other servicing, take the vehicle to the designated garage or servicing location; monitor the work to ensure it is accomplished as requested, etc.
•Ensure that the appropriate steps are taken in case of involvement in an accident or other traffic-related incidents.
Messenger and other administrative functions
•Delivers all local office correspondence in the city by hand
•Collects mail/documents from the mailbox at Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
•Carries out office document handling, including photocopying, binding, scanning and sometimes filing.
•Scans copies of the delivered correspondence and sends it via email to the corresponding assistant.
•Supports diplomatic pouch operations—prepare deliveries, as requested, and prepares the necessary documents for the proper receipt of incoming pouches, all under the guidance of the Receptionist.
•Ensures oxygen tanks are always filled and accessible as required.
•Handles courier services, as requested.
•Ensures that the office printers and photocopiers are continuously stocked with paper and toner, and reports maintenance issues to IT staff.
•Perform other administrative duties as required.
General Facilities’ Duties
•Works together with the Office Facilities Coordinator on:
o Planning and scheduling internal office move logistics.
o Assisting departments with move preparation activities.
o Help with the internal office moves and post occupancy tasks.
•Assists the Facilities coordinator on the monitoring, acquiring and disposal of physical assets of the Country Office (office equipment, vehicles, furniture, etc.).
•Supports the process of disposing, maintaining and procuring office vehicles.
•Provides support to annual asset inventory in the office.
•Performs simple, on-the-spot facilities repairs as directed by the Office Facilities Coordinator.
•Perform other duties as required.
General Office Security
•Able to operate satellite phones as alternative means of communication.
•Provide transport and other support to the Country Office Crisis Management Team during emergencies and security-related incidents.
•Ability to act or support during a fire evacuation.
