Job Description

This is an expedited recruitment process open only to: a) Internal candidates, and b) Former IOM staff members who were separated within the last 12 months due to the structural adjustment process. This process is not open to external candidates; applications from external applicants will not be considered.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Under the overall supervision of the Head of Resource Management and the direct supervision of the Finance Officer, the incumbent will perform the following duties:

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Collect the daily paid cash at the medical unit from the self-payer beneficiaries and check consistency with the medical unit record, and deposit the collected cash at the bank on daily basis. 
  • Assist in tracking payments released to IOM implementing partners; verify and process all grant payment vouchers according to IOM procedures.
  • Perform all functions in accordance with the IOM Financial, Procurement and Accounting Regulations. 
  • Review calculation of Daily Subsistence Allowance and verify validity and completeness of documentation for settlement in accordance with the organization’s travel rules and regulations; prepare request for payment as necessary.
  • Review completeness of documentation of operational advance settlements, including, statement of expenditure and relevant supporting documentation; prepare the request for payment as and when necessary.
  • Process all payments  on a timely Manner.
  • Assist on collecting supporting documents during audit engagement. 
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned. 

 

Qualifications

Education
  • University degree from an accredited academic institution, preferably in Accounting or Business Administration with the minimum of 1 (One) year of relevant work experience. Or ; 
  • High school with 3 years of work experience.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
 
Experience
  • Experience in basic accounting or bookkeeping, including handling invoices, receipts, vouchers, and petty cash.
  • High level of computer literacy with specific proficiency in MS Office (Excel and Word).
  • Flexibility, motivation, and commitment with the job as well as to work in team. 
Skills
  • Delivers on set objectives in hardship situations
  • Effectively coordinates actions with other implementing partners
  • Works effectively with local authorities, stakeholders, beneficiaries, and the broader community to advance country office or regional objective
  • Knowledge of MS office and Internet Explorer.
Languages
  • Fluency in Arabic, Kurdish, and English is required.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
