Job Overview/Summary
The WPE Counsellor responds to reported incidents of gender-based violence (GBV) in a timely, survivor-centered to ensure that survivors can heal through receiving planned quality comprehensive and appropriate health, legal safety and security and psychosocial care and support. They are responsible for delivering case management and counseling services in safe spaces. They also assist in raising awareness to prevent gender-based violence incidents from happening and to ensure that survivors of GBV know what the services available to them are and how to access them. In addition, they will provide emotional and case management support for women and girls in non-GBV cases.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Case Management
-Provide direct support and care for vulnerable women and girls (including survivors of GBV)
-Provide direct age-appropriate and specialized support for vulnerable adolescent and girl children, including counseling.
-Treat survivors and other vulnerable beneficiaries with indiscriminate respect, understanding, and carnies, always maintaining confidentiality and based on survivors’ needs and wishes.
-Give survivors information about the consequences of sexual assault, required reporting regulations, and help them as they identify their own needs and options.
-Collaborate with survivors to develop action plans to address survivors’ physical, emotional, psychological, social, protection, and financial needs and provide follow-up to ensure needed services are provided.
-Work closely upon the consent of the survivor with the IRC programs, as well as other referral service providers on referrals to ensure comprehensive care of survivors.
-Participate in case conferences, file reviews, and any other meetings as required.
Counselling
- Provide individual PSS support, counseling, and guidance to women at risk of GBV and GBV survivors and vulnerable groups.
- Provide group counseling PSS groups (Women Rise).
- Provide referrals for beneficiaries in need of additional mental health support and other required services.
Documentation
- Provide case documentation in line with safety, ethics, and confidentiality.
- Compile GBVIMS/ Primero/ CommCare and data reports monthly.
- Complete the case management, quality assessment tool, and the satisfaction`s survey monthly.
- Participating in weekly reporting and planning meetings to ensure adherence to standards of care, quality case management, and reporting requirements are followed in addition to sharing GBV risks, a key trend.
- Prepare the success stories when applicable to be shared with the WPE Senior Officer for reporting issues.
- Complete confidential incident report and all other case-related forms.
Other Duties
- Increase the quality of case management service provision by coordinating with other service providers in the referral pathway and attending UNHCR meetings.
- Work closely with women's committees and build their capacities.
- Raising community awareness about access and eligibility to services, staff expected behavior, community feedback, and safeguarding mechanisms, and how to use them.
- Collecting and recording community feedback while carrying out project activities.
- Foster ongoing learning, transparent dialogue, and reflection to strengthen safeguarding and to promote IRC values and adherence to IRC policies.
- Any other task as designated by the Senior WPE Officer, DDP, or other relevant team members.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Holder of a bachelor’s degree in social work, Medical Social Work, Psychology, or another related field.
- At least 3-5 years of counselling experience with issues relating to violence against women, gender and development, child protection, or social change
- Clear understanding of gender inequality and issues surrounding
- The ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for clients and a Survivor-centered approach always, is essential.
- Positive and professional attitude, able to organize, maintain composure and prioritize work duties. might work overtime when necessary and be able to coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.
- The ability to work as a member of a team is essential.
- Proficiency in written and spoken Arabic and good English.
