About this position
The Amazon Coordination Unit (ACU) of the IDB is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented consultant to join the team, with strong capacity and experience in operations analysis to perform a variety of operational functions related to the design, implementation and monitoring of Bank-financed projects and technical cooperation.
ACU facilitates the implementation of the Amazonia Forever regional coordination program through proactive, strategic coordination and construction of strong alliances and relationships, in close collaboration with the operational areas of the IDB Group, with special attention to transversal issues of pivotal importance to achieving results.
ACU is a small and dynamic team, with some division of responsibilities but also an expectation for strong teamwork, proactivity, flexibility, and collaborative spirit. The team works under the Vice Presidency of Countries and Regional Integration (VPC) at IDB, as well as with specialists and management throughout the IDB and the COFs in Amazonian countries.
What you’ll do
- Support project lifecycle management for Amazonia Forever initiatives, including technical cooperations and Bank products.
- Utilize project management tools and data platforms to ensure informed stakeholder engagement and effective client support.
- Assist in results-based monitoring, including preparation of results matrices, indicators, procurement plans, and budgets.
- Conduct research and analysis on IDB policies, operational instruments, grants, and contracts to ensure compliance and alignment.
- Advise Project Executing Units on planning, financial projections, risk assessments, and execution strategies.
- Prepare and review progress reports, including PMRs and donor reports, identifying deviations and proposing corrective actions.
- Monitor project portfolio performance, analyzing disbursements and recommending improvements.
- Support procurement and contracting, ensuring compliance with IDB policies for consultants and firms.
- Coordinate logistics and documentation for meetings, events, and consultant interactions, including Letters of Agreement.
- Capture and apply lessons learned to improve future project preparation and execution.
- Work closely with the Division’s Resource Planner to assist with corporate requirements.
What you'll need
- Education:Bachelor’s degree in economics, social sciences or similar. Applied economics, data collection and analysis, research methods, monitoring and impact evaluation.
- Experience: 2 years of experience in project management and in the implementation and monitoring of development projects financed by the IDB. Knowledge and capacity for intersectoral work and teamwork
- Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

- Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
