Salary: USD 108,700 for IS-3 / USD 129,400 for IS-4 (plus attractive benefits, that include the following allowances (as applicable)): Relocation, dependency, housing, education assistance and home country travel.

 

This is a talent pool announcement for IS3 and IS4-level positions. Candidates who meet the majority of the qualifications but do not fully meet the educational or total full-time work experience requirements for the IS4 level may be considered for an IS3-level position at the discretion of the hiring manager or Division Director.

Position Objective

 

The role serves as a strategic leader and primary liaison between the IT department and business units, ensuring that technology initiatives align with organizational goals. This position demands a high level of business acumen, technical expertise, and leadership to shape technology strategies that maximize business value. Responsibilities include business partnering, leading complex IT projects, and overseeing project management functions to ensure the successful execution and delivery of critical initiatives. The ideal candidate is proactive, solution-oriented, and adept at managing cross-functional collaboration.

 

Purpose 

 

Strategic Business Partnering:

  • Act as an advisor to business leaders, understanding their strategic goals and translating them into technology solutions. Advise business and IT leaders on new approaches that sustain the quality of IT services/projects/products.
  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with executive and senior management teams.
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of business processes and challenges to proactively identify IT solutions.
  • Influence technology adoption and digital transformation strategies across the organization.
  • Provide thought leadership on emerging technologies and best practices to enhance business capabilities.

 

Technology strategy and Alignment:

  • Collaborate with IT leadership to develop roadmaps and strategies for technology adoption and optimization. Develop and execute projects plans across a range of well-defined and established projects’ elements aligned with broader organizational objectives
  • Monitor and analyze business unit performance to identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure that IT initiatives align with organizational objectives and deliver measurable value. Adapt projects/programs initiatives, priorities and methods in response in response to changing client needs and operational/technological conditions

 

Engagement

 

Business-IT Partner Management:

  • Manage IT governance for the department, ensuring alignment with organizational policies and standards.
  • Oversee the financial management of IT costs and budget associated with business departments, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for IT requests, streamlining processes to eliminate duplication of efforts and enhance efficiency. Sustain projects/programs relevance through seamless and comprehensive service to clients.

 

Change Management and Communication:

  • Lead change management efforts to drive successful adoption of new systems and processes.
  • Ensure transparent and timely communication with stakeholders throughout project lifecycles.
  • Develop comprehensive training and support plans to facilitate smooth transitions and user adoption.

 

Delivery

 

Project Management:

  • Manage and supervise IT projects/programs for the business teams, from inception to closure. Sustain projects/programs delivery against established cycles/schedules, while incorporating new policies and procedures and evolving client needs
  • Develop detailed project plans, resource allocations, risk assessments, and contingency strategies. Maintain delivery schedules through varying conditions, constraints to resources, and problematic client engagement.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including developers, analysts, and business stakeholders. Manage cross-team communication to promote effective coordination of service delivery ensuring priorities are aligned.
  • Monitor project progress, resolve issues, and ensure that project objectives are met on time and within budget.
  • Engage with stakeholders at all levels to provide updates, solicit feedback, and drive decision-making. Sustain quality of projects/programs through adaptation to changing operational demands and client feedback.
  • Champion project governance practices and ensure adherence to project management methodologies.

 

Business Analysis and Quality Assurance: 

  • Conduct thorough business analysis to understand requirements and assess the impact of proposed technology solutions tailoring projects/programs to reflect thorough understanding of team capacities, organizational priorities, resources, client needs, and operational/technological context
  • Implement quality assurance processes to ensure that solutions meet stakeholder expectations and industry standards. 
  • Facilitate testing and validation to maintain high-quality deliverables. 

 

Vendor and Contract Management: 

  • Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers, ensuring service levels are maintained. 
  • Coordinate procurement processes to secure optimal terms and value. 
  • Conduct performance evaluations and implement measures to address any service gaps.

 

Requirements (Education, experience, technical competencies required of the job)

 

  • Master’s degree in computer science, information systems; MBA or similar postgraduate business qualification or a relevant Bachelor’s degree with an additional 2 years of professional experience.
  • At least seven (7) years of professional experience (IS-3) / At least nine (9) years of professional experience (IS-4) in ICT project management and service delivery, with at least four years of experience working directly with senior business leaders.
  • At least two years’ experience working in service management or customer service, providing 1st line or 2nd line Customer Experience (CX) support to users for both systems, applications and hardware issues.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering complex, high-impact IT projects.
  • Certification in project management (e.g. PRINCE2 and PMP) is mandatory.
  • Certification in IT Governance and Enterprise Architecture or ITIL or COBIT is highly desirable.
  • Certified qualifications in Data Strategy and Digital Transformation is desirable.
  • Knowledge of use of generative artificial intelligence both for productivity tasks and applications.
  • Proficiency in project and portfolio management tools.
  • Strong business acumen: Knowledge of business processes and operations of Funds in the Climate Finance industry will be an asset
  • Ability to develop and deliver long-term strategy and technology roadmaps.
  • Fluent written and oral communication skills in English are essential for this position; knowledge of another UN language an advantage.
