Organizational Setting
The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors, and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.
The incumbent will be recruited under the GCP/GEO/031/AUS project titled Inclusive Rural Development and Sustainable Agriculture.
The overarching goal of the project is to foster increased competitiveness within the agricultural sector, enhance food production, and concurrently alleviate rural poverty, with a specific emphasis on mitigating inequality. This will be achieved by providing support for the effective execution of the Agriculture and Rural Development Strategy of Georgia 2021-2027.
Furthermore, the project's anticipated outcomes are intrinsically aligned with the thematic focus area of sustainable rural development and the enhancement of livelihood opportunities, as stipulated within the Framework Strategy of the Austrian Development Cooperation concerning the EU Eastern Partner Countries. The successful realization of these objectives is expected to catalyse significant positive change in the Georgian agricultural landscape, with far-reaching implications for rural development and economic growth. By complementing the LEADER approach, the project will emphasize inclusivity as a core principle, ensuring that all stakeholders are actively involved in project implementation.
Reporting Lines
The incumbent will work under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Georgia, the direct supervision of the Technical Adviser (Rural Development Officer).
Technical Focus
The main role of the incumbent will be providing support in project implementation by handling administrative issues, organizing events, managing project database, supporting with documentation and stakeholder engagement.
Tasks and responsibilities
• Provide day-to-day administrative support for the project;
• Provide administrative and logistical support to effectively deliver project activities, including the organization of trainings, workshops, meetings and other events;
• Assist in the preparation of project documentation, including procurement requests, progress reports, work plans, meeting minutes, attendance sheets, and other materials in a timely manner;
• Establish and maintain project databases using FAO systems to support effective information management, including collecting, consolidating and archiving information products for monitoring purposes;
• Support for implementation of awareness-raising campaign;
• Support the project team in stakeholder engagement activities;
• Support conducting National Agricultural Olympiad (NAO), in line with the project work plan, including communications, visibility for and the information campaign;
• Establish and maintain communication with stakeholders throughout the NAO preparatory stage and rewarding ceremony;
• Communicate with potential sponsors of NAO;
• Perform other related duties, as required.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
• University degree in business administration, project management, sociology, international development or other related field;
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience at the national level, including in project implementation support, stakeholder coordination, administration, database management, etc.
• Working knowledge (Level C) of English
