THE OPPORTUNITY

The Lead, Technology Portfolio Management role reports to the Head, Enterprise Architecture.

The Lead, Technology Portfolio Management is a key role within the Enterprise Architecture unit, responsible for managing the organization's Technology and Application Portfolios. This position ensures that IT services and applications are well-documented, aligned with business capabilities, and optimized for performance, cost-efficiency, and governance.

The role involves close collaboration with Architects, IT Service Owners, Business stakeholders, and ITSM Teams to ensure that both services and applications support the organization's strategic objectives, digital transformation initiatives, and demand assessment while driving maturity of technology and application portfolio management in line with industry frameworks.

WAYS YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE

Application Portfolio Management (APM):

  • Maintain and govern the Application Portfolio, ensuring a complete inventory of applications, their ownership, lifecycle status, costs, risks, dependencies, and alignment with business capabilities.
  • Work with the demand managers, business analysts, and enterprise architects toassess applications based on business value, cost, risk, technical debt and other considerations.
  • Oversee application lifecycle management, ensuring a strategic roadmap for upgrades, replacements, or decommissions.
  • Define and implement a rationalization strategy for applications, identifying opportunities for consolidation, modernization, or retirement.
  • Ensure cloud adoption strategies, SaaS utilization, and legacy modernization efforts are reflected in the application portfolio.
  • Ensure alignment between cloud adoption strategies, SaaS portfolio management, and enterprise IT architecture.
  • Collaborate with Security and Compliance teams to ensure applications adhere to regulatory and cybersecurity standards.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architects and Business Units to ensure applications align with business needs and digital transformation initiatives.

Technology Portfolio Management (TPM):

  • Govern the Technology Portfolio, ensuring all IT assets (hardware, software, platforms, and services) are cataloged and aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
  • Work with IT leaders and procurement teams to rationalize technology investments, minimize redundancy, and optimize costs.
  • Define technology lifecycle policies, ensuring proper governance of technology assets.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, assessing their potential impact on the existing IT landscape and business strategy.

Technology Service Catalog Management:

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize the IT Service Catalog, ensuring IT services are clearly defined, categorized, and aligned with business capabilities.
  • Establish governance processes for service introduction, modification, and retirement, ensuring transparency in IT service offerings.
  • Work closely with ITSM teams to integrate service catalog entries into an IT service portal (e.g., ServiceNow) to enhance self-service capabilities.
  • Define and maintain service level agreements (SLAs), operational level agreements (OLAs), and service dependencies.
  • Ensure that IT services are mapped to the underlying applications and infrastructure for better visibility and impact analysis.

Governance & Compliance:

  • Establish and enforce standards, policies, governance structures and frameworks for technology and application portfolio management.
  • Develop, deploy and operate fit-for-purpose mechanisms for onboarding and offboarding applications
  • Ensure compliance with IT policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Define and enforce service level agreements (SLAs) and operational level agreements (OLAs).
  • Define and maintain an IT asset classification and categorization model, ensuring transparency in ownership, costs, risks, and dependencies.
  • Align prioritization of services and applications in terms of availability, performance, support and other requirements with classification and categorization model.
  • Contribute to demand management with accurate, up-to-date information on the state of the Foundation’s application landscape

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Work with IT service owners, business units, and support teams to maintain accurate service documentation.
  • Communicate updates and changes to the technology service catalog to relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance that enables continuous alignment of service offerings with evolving needs while maintaining a harmonious application landscape.
  • Work with IT Finance teams to develop cost allocation models and chargeback frameworks for technology and application services.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to business and IT leaders, providing insights on portfolio performance and opportunities for optimization.

Process Improvement & Optimization:

  • Analyze service usage and feedback to improve service offerings using a Value Realization Framework (VRF).
  • Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for automation in service delivery.
  • Support ITSM initiatives such as ITIL implementation and continual service improvement.

Reporting & Performance Management:

  • Monitor and report on service catalog performance and adoption.
  • Provide insights to senior management for strategic decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and KPIs to track portfolio health, usage, cost efficiency, and technology risks.
  • Use data-driven insights and analytics to recommend optimization strategies and technology modernization initiatives.
  • Support automation and AI-driven decision-making in IT asset and portfolio management.

WHO YOU ARE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in Enterprise Architecture, Application Portfolio Management (APM), Technology Governance, or IT Strategy.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL frameworks and IT service lifecycle management.
  • Experience with ITSM and EA/APM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, BMC Remedy, Jira Service Management, LeanIX, MEGA HOPEX, BizzDesign, Alfabet).
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on process improvement.
  • Expertise in Enterprise Architecture principles, business capability mapping, and IT portfolio optimization.
  • Strong understanding of cloud technologies, SaaS portfolio management, and IT cost management.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior executives and business leaders.
  • ITIL Foundation certification (or higher).
  • Experience in enterprise IT environments and service delivery frameworks.
  • Knowledge of automation and self-service technologies for technology catalog management.
  • TOGAF, ArchiMate, or other Enterprise Architecture certifications.
  • Experience in large-scale digital transformation initiatives.
  • Knowledge of AI and automation trends in IT portfolio management.
  • Basic presentation and modelling skills.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to execute a range of job duties and changing priorities.
  • Possess excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to articulate information to a variety of constituents across cultures.
  • Possess professional maturity, sensitivity with different cultures, and impeccable integrity.
