Job Description

Scope and Context
 
IOM in South Sudan has a broad range of programming centered around three broad areas: Humanitarian Coordination and Support; Humanitarian response and Resilience; and Peacebuilding, Transition, and Development. Humanitarian Coordination and support include leading/co-leading the Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) and Shelter and Non-Food Items (NFI) Clusters, Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM), Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and management of WASH and Shelter and NFI Core-pipelines, Humanitarian Hubs and common transport services. Humanitarian response and Resilience include CCCM, WASH, Shelter & NFI, Health, Protection, Gender equality and inclusion, Mental health and Psychosocial support and the Management of a Rapid Response Fund. Under Peacebuilding, Transition and Development, IOM South Sudan implements programming on Housing, Land and Property Page issues, Transition and Recovery, Transhumance conflict prevention, Community-based violence reduction, Community development and Migration Management.
 
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission, technical guidance of the Health Coordinator in Juba and direct supervision of Head of Sub-Office for Renk, the incumbent is accountable for undertaking clinical activities in relation to IOM’s emergency health activities
 

Responsibilities

  1. Perform and conduct consultations at IOM mobile clinic sites 
  2. Collect and submit the Morbidity data from the mobile clinic and submit them to the supervisor timely. 
  3. Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization 
  4. Demonstrate knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and patient’s clinical condition with in scope of practice 
  5. Perform patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient’s age 
  6. Demonstrate an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations. 
  7. Treat patients and their families with respect and dignity 8. Ensure patient confidentiality. 
  8. Identify and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patient and family. 
  9. Interact professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care. 
  10. Maintain a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments. 
  11. Any other duty assigned by the supervisor 

Qualifications

Education

College Diploma in Clinical Medicine/Medical Assistant/ Nursing with 

Valid certificate or equivalent combination of training from a institution 

 
Experience
  • Three (3) years previous professional experience working for a recognized institution in primary health care in South Sudan is an advantage. 
  • Experience in applying nationally and internationally accepted protocols and guidelines. 
  • Basic c o m p u t e r knowledge a must. 
Skills
  • Good report writing skills; 
  • Good computer skills: knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email/internet software. 
Languages
  • For this position, fluency in English and working knowledge of Arabic is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of a local language is an advantage.
