Medical Coordinator UNDSS New York
Introduction
The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) recruits committed and skilled experts for our humanitarian, resilience and peace support operations worldwide on a daily basis. We have great experience on working together and strengthening other organisations for example the UN and the EU in crisis, conflicts or other disasters.
MSB is currently looking to nominate a Medical Coordinator to United Nations Department of Safety and Security, Training and Development Section.
Duty location: New York, USA, with frequent travel to Ukraine
Duration: 1 year
Start date: September 2025
Employed by the MSB on an international mission you will receive a monthly salary as well as a comprehensive allowances and benefits package, ranging from free home leave travel to access to psychosocial support.
As part of its global engagement, MSB is partnering with the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) to second a Medical Coordinator to its Training and Development Section (TDS).
This position will play a vital role in supporting the UNSMS First Responder Programme (FRP), with an emphasis on integrating medical training and capacity development in conflict-affected, high-risk environments—particularly Ukraine.
The deployment of a Medical Coordinator through MSB is crucial to scaling and strengthening emergency medical training under the UNDSS First Responder Programme. The primary focus of this secondment will be on supporting, implementing, and contextualizing FRP activities in Ukraine, which remains a high-priority context for UNDSS and the broader UN system due to the ongoing conflict and humanitarian emergency.
The Coordinator will ensure that Ukraine’s unique medical, security, and operational realities are embedded across FRP strategy, training content, and instructor development. The lessons learned from Ukraine will inform not only national implementation but will also be leveraged to improve global preparedness and response standards across other duty stations.
