Position Objective

The Indian Regional Office (IRO), under the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (VP&COO), is functionally responsible for client relations and representation of the Bank in India and Bangladesh. The IRO is responsible for project identification and pipeline development, project preparation, project implementation and regional portfolio management. The IRO is also responsible for carrying out additional functions delegated by the VP&COO.

Reporting to the Director General, IRO, the Principal Professional plays a leading role in preparing country partnership strategy, originating impactful projects for country project pipeline and assisting clients to prepare them, and monitoring implementation of most complex transactions.

Purpose-Innovate

  • Develop a pipeline of new impactful projects with innovative elements that diversify the Bank’s portfolio and increase its visibility within the region.
  • Strengthen monitoring of project implementation and proactively engage with clients on best practices and lessons learned to optimize project delivery.

Engagement-Advocate

  • Provide critical insights on regional opportunities and trends to guide the organization into new areas of interest which are aligned with the Bank’s development agenda and mission.
  • Showcase the Bank’s capacities and programs to expand client relationships and build a strong foundation for the Bank’s project pipelines in the region.
  • Advise clients on the preparation of new projects to ensure project quality upon entry.

Delivery- Define Project Cycle

  • Advocate to new approaches in business development, project origination, and selection in the region to enhance delivery timeframes while ensuring alignment to wider organizational objectives, plans, and strategies.
  • Apply and when appropriate establish rigorous approaches to project origination, structuring, and selection to ensure quality upon entry and proactively target key developmental focus areas and priorities of the Bank which solidifies the organization brand.
  • Efficiently monitor implementation of complex projects in order to anticipate, preempt and react in a timely manner providing solutions to obstacles for achievement of development objectives.

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in areas relevant to NDB mandate. Professional qualification such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA desirable.
  • Minimum 9 years of relevant professional experience in financing public or private sector projects in the region.
  • Fluency in English essential to communicate in writing and speaking.
  • Substantive knowledge. Demonstrated Capacity gained through experience in public and private sector projects, reflecting subject mastery in project design, structuring and monitoring. Conceptual: Identify and analyze needs/opportunities and/or internal functional challenges not met or newly address. Applied: Formulate/develop rationale for a policy change or continuation.
  • Communication skills. Demonstrated skill gained through exposure/experience in presentation/promotion preferably including bodies empowered for decision making. Internal: Convince team of new thinking/ approach/program. External: Present compelling rationale on new policies/products addressing controversial or new issues/approaches.
  • Execution skills: Demonstrated achievement in the organization of multi- step/layered programs/services. Timeliness: Refined sequences and stages that support consistency in delivery in highly responsive timeframes. Quality: Quality control process which ensure that deliverables meet product/service specifications.
