Context

This volunteer assignment is supported by the Swiss Embassy in Tunisia as part of an initiative in partnership with the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) program to enhance youth inclusion, with a focus on the inclusion of young people with disabilities (2024-2026). Therefore, applications from young people with disabilities who meet the required qualifications are strongly encouraged.


The UN Volunteer will serve as Horticulture Youth Engineer with UNHABITAT, based in the Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure in Tunis. The Ministry is committed to promoting sustainable urban development and enhancing the quality of built environments in urban areas across Tunisia.

Task description

Under the direct supervision of Riadh Hentati, Project Manager for the Medical City of Kairouan, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
- Assist in the initial design of the landscaping master plan for the medical city.
- Propose plant and tree species adapted to the local ecosystem.
- Support implementation of a sustainable green infrastructure strategy.
