Organizational Setting
The main aim of the FAO Country Offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist governments in developing policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and nutrition and reduce hunger and malnutrition, promote sustainable agricultural development, reduce rural poverty, develop inclusive agri-food systems and strengthen livelihood resilience – in line with the Organization’s Strategic Objectives and United Nations’ global and Government of Egypt’s national Sustainable Development Goals.
The 4 positions are located in Asswan Governorate / El Beheira Governorate / Kafr El Sheikh Governorate / Minya Governorate – Egypt.
Reporting Lines
The Driver will work under the overall supervision of the Operations Officer. He or she will also closely coordinate with project team members and the administrative/logistics staff to ensure timely and efficient delivery of transport and support services.
Technical Focus
Provision of reliable and safe driving services, including transportation of authorized personnel and delivery/collection of mail, documents, and other logistic items; routine maintenance of assigned vehicles; and logistical support to field activities in accordance with FAO standards and safety regulations.
Tasks and responsibilities
• Drive vehicles safely in accordance with traffic laws and organizational policies.
• Ensure all personal and vehicle documentation (e.g., driver’s license, permits) is valid and current.
• Transport staff and consultants to assigned locations, including during field missions.
• Plan and follow efficient routes to ensure timely arrival.
• Conduct routine vehicle checks (oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, lights) and report issues promptly.
• Keep the vehicle clean and well-maintained, both internally and externally.
• Maintain accurate records of trips, mileage, fuel consumption, servicing, and maintenance.
• Schedule regular vehicle servicing and oversee necessary repairs.
• Comply with Road Safety and Transport Authority regulations and organizational procedures.
• Ensures that rules and regulations are followed in all cases and specifically in case of accidents. Collect and deliver mail, documents, and parcels to and from offices, government agencies, and other institutions.
• Provide general logistical support as required.
• Perform any other related duties as required.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
• Secondary school education is required; additional training in vehicle mechanics or basic administrative/logistics support is desirable.
• At least four years of work experience as a professional driver, preferably with international organizations, embassies, or the UN.
• Strong knowledge of local roads, routes, traffic patterns, and access points.
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
• Working knowledge of Arabic and basic understanding of English.
• National of Egypt.

Technical/Functional Skills
• Good knowledge of local traffic laws and routes in Cairo and other regions of Egypt.
• Ability to perform minor vehicle repairs and routine maintenance.
• Familiarity with administrative procedures related to vehicle management (e.g., trip logs, fuel records, servicing schedules).
• Knowledge of UN safety and security procedures is an asset.
• Ability to work effectively with multicultural teams and maintain confidentiality and courtesy.
