Intern – Evaluation Support for WHO Civil Society Commission (via CORE Group)

HIRING NEED: Start August/September for 3-5 months
The WHO Civil Society Commission (CSC) was established to strengthen dialogue and collaboration between the World Health Organization (WHO) and civil society organizations (CSOs) in support of global public health goals. As part of ongoing efforts to assess the impact, effectiveness, and value of the Commission, WHO is undertaking a formal evaluation.
To support this work, CORE Group seeks an intern to contribute to the evaluation process of the WHO CSO Commission by assisting with research, data collection, and coordination activities. The intern will work closely with the WHO Secretariat for CSO Commission and liaise with other stakeholders as needed.
The internship is with the CORE Group and as such managed by it. The intern reports to the designated person at the CORE Group which is a member of the WHO CSO Commission. The intern will support the work of the WHO CSO Commission through and facilitated by this membership.
Objectives
The objective of this internship is to provide technical and administrative support to the evaluation of the WHO Civil Society Commission. The intern will gain hands-on experience in public health evaluation and multistakeholder engagement processes.
Duties
Under the supervision of the designated staff member(s) within the CORE Group and WHO Secretariat, who will agree on the expected deliverables of the intern. Overall, the intern will:
- Support data collection from stakeholders including civil society representatives, WHO staff, and
external experts. - Assist in literature and document reviews relevant to the evaluation scope.
- Participate in the organization and documentation of interviews, focus groups, and workshops.
- Draft summaries, notes, reports, and presentations for internal and external use.
- Contribute to qualitative and quantitative data analysis under supervision.
- Help maintain organized records of all evaluation materials and ensure proper documentation.
- Support communication and coordination with civil society stakeholders and WHO departments as needed.
- Perform other duties related to the evaluation as assigned.
Learning Objectives
- Gain practical knowledge of evaluation methodologies in a public health and multistakeholder context.
- Understand the role of civil society in global health governance and WHO’s engagement mechanisms.
- Enhance research, analytical, and communication skills.
- Become familiar with WHO’s organizational structure, procedures, and policy framework.
Duration: 3 to 5 months (depending on availability and project needs).
- Start Date: Late August/September 2025
- 10-15 hours/week
- Must be available during Central Europe Time hours, schedule will be flexible

Conditions
- The internship is managed through the CORE Group and has the conditions for the internship as the rules and procedures of CORE Group.
- Upon achievement of the deliverables, the intern will receive a stipend of $3000.00
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant postgraduate program- Masters, PhD, DrPH, etc. (e.g. public health, political science, international development, public administration, social sciences).
- Demonstrated interest in public health, global governance, evaluation, or civil society engagement.
- Strong analytical, writing, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a multicultural environment.
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of other UN languages is an asset.
- Experience with qualitative or quantitative research tools is desirable.
