Duties and Responsibilities

The United Nations Secretary-General is responsible for the investment of the assets of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF). The Secretary-General has delegated this responsibility to the Representative of the Secretary-General for the investment of the assets of the UNJSPF (RSG). The RSG is, in turn, assisted in this function by the Office of Investment Management (OIM). OIM manages a $90+ billion multi-asset class, global investment portfolio, about 85% of which is actively managed in-house. Asset classes under management comprise of global equities, fixed income, foreign exchange, private equity, real estate, infrastructure, timber and commodities. OIM’s staff are all based in New York and come from over 40 countries. For more information, please visit OIM's website at https://www.unjspf.org/. This internship is located in the Communications Team of the Strategic Management Office. The intern reports to the Communications Officer. The intern will support the team in the administration and tasks will include: • Research, compile, draft and edit basic information for use in the preparation and production of public information and policy materials, including website content in English, French and Spanish. • Assist with the production of communication products, including conducting research, compiling information and coordinating logistics; • Assist with content and design of digital media products, including social media posts and conduct analysis of social media metrics; • Assist with the maintenance of the OIM intranet and UNJSPF website • Compile, analyse and organize data for office reports; • Attend meetings and draft summaries; • Perform other tasks as necessary.

Qualifications/special skills

Internships at the United Nations require one of the following: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Ability to draft news articles and/or social media posts in desirable. Ability to design surveys and polls is desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.
