Mission and objectives
WHO is the directing and coordinating authority for health within the United Nations system. The organization is responsible for providing leadership in global health matters, shaping the health research agenda, setting norms and standards, articulating evidence-based policy options, providing technical support to countries and monitoring and assessing health trends.

Context
The UN Volunteer will support the implementation of ongoing infrastructure work by monitoring the construction project on-site. The volunteer will be responsible for ensuring that the work is carried out in accordance with approved plans, technical standards, and quality requirements. Additionally, the UNV will help track progress against timelines to support the timely and successful completion of the project.
Task description
1. Monitor ongoing construction activities to ensure that works are carried out according to approved technical drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
2. Ensure quality assurance and control by inspecting materials, workmanship, and contractor compliance with safety and engineering guidelines.
3. Track project progress and timelines, identifying any potential delays and reporting issues that may impact timely completion.
4. Verify contractor deliverables, such as work completion certificates, site logs, and quantity reports, ensuring they meet contractual obligations.
5. Support coordination between WHO, contractors, and relevant stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation and issue resolution.
6. Conduct site visits and inspections, providing technical input and guidance as needed throughout the project lifecycle.
7. Prepare regular progress reports and documentation for internal use, ensuring proper record-keeping and transparency.
8. Ensure compliance with WHO’s operational, safety, and environmental standards throughout the construction process.
