Background
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Acceleration Framework Project, as a Development Services Agreement, is entered with the Government’s central authority – the General Secretariat of the Government, in order to provide services to a wider range of authorities at the national level, as the General Secretariat supports the work of the Government for general and operational affairs.
The Development Services Agreement is envisaged to provide a framework for services requested by the Government, for ongoing initiatives of the Government, for which it bears full accountability. The majority of development services envisaged under the Agreement relate to support to policy making through research, advocacy or policy alternatives, aimed at fulfilling priorities as articulated in the Government plans, presented before Parliament, and in line with progress in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. The Project includes, among the rest, support for fully capacitating the Sector for International and Development Cooperation of the General Secretariat of the Government.
Among other activities within the framework of this project, UNDP shall also support the Sector’s work by providing advisory services and consultancy for the planning, design, and monitoring of high-level event organization processes, both domestically and internationally.It shall also support the coordination and smooth implementation of designated project activities relevant to the work of the Sector for International and Development Cooperation within the General Secretariat of the Government. The presented Terms of Reference (ToR) shall contribute to the implementation of this activity.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Portfolio Manager – SDG Integration, the incumbent is responsible for the following specific results:
Support coordination and implementation of designated project activities:
• Assist in coordination, and implementation of selected activities/components in the areas relevant to the project.
• Track progress, identify key bottlenecks and take action to fast-track implementation of the initiatives related to the work of the Sector for International and Development cooperation relevant for the project.
• Provide support in effective management of the project’s activities, including technical inspections of documentation relevant for the conceptualising, designing and monitoring phase of the high-level events organization.
• Provide support in implementation phase of the events organization by overseeing its alignment with the design phase, through accurate and timely data collection, analysis, reporting, and progress tracking.
• Prepare regular updates and reports to Project Boards on projects’ progress, implementing issues, emerging risks/problems and proposals for necessary remedial actions.
• Identify and collect relevant information, documents and data, compile and analyze data for further use in project management.
Support to project administration:
• Support organization and coordination of meetings, training sessions, workshops, conferences, and project events
• Prepare various documents, briefs, updates, talking points, presentations, reports and relevant communication materials, agendas for the meetings, background information relevant for discussions with stakeholders, keeping minutes of each meeting detailing participation, main points discussed, and conclusions reached
• Draft terms of reference for consultants and contractors, as required and support recruitment of short-term consultants in line with rules and regulations.
• Draft correspondence on project issues, as required.
• Follow up with (sub)contractors to ensure time delivery of outputs.
• Ensure full compliance of activities with UNDP rules, regulations, and policies.
Network with partners and beneficiaries:
• Maintain close cooperation with national and international partners and institutions relevant to the General Secretariat's work aimed to expand existing and build new partnerships.
• Maintain communication with project’s partners and beneficiaries on the implementation of the agreed activities, especially for the events, trainings, workshops.
• Establish record with contacts, pursue networking and information sharing and to follow up on partnership related issues.
• Advise national partners on opportunities for enhancement of cooperation with relevant national and international partners.
The incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.
Institutional Arrangement
The Project Associate will work under the overall guidance and supervision of the Portfolio Manager – Integrated Solutions, SDG Integration Center.

Required Skills and Experience
- Secondary education is required.
- University Degree (Bachelor’s degree) in Natural, Social Sciences or equivalent field will be given due consideration, but it is not a requirement
- Minimum 7 years (with Secondary Education) or 4 years (with Bachelor’s degree) of relevant work experience in the field of project management, technical coordination, project monitoring or relevant related field is required.
