Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Associate Economic Affairs Officer of Trade Analysis Branch and the NTM Regional Coordinator, the individual contractor will: (1) Support an international non-tariff measure (NTM) expert in conducting NTM data collection of Cook Islands, Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, or Tuvalu: - Conduct research on the existing national governance and legislative structures, and all the on/offline sources for trade-related regulations such as laws, decrees or public notices. - Contact and make a visit to policymakers in different ministries and agencies by cooperating with the government focal points, in order to collect trade-related regulations and any other information requested by the NTM Regional Coordinator. (2) Organize a national workshop with the NTM Regional Coordinator: - Organize the national workshop. - Prepare logistical matters such as venues, catering services and/or internet for the workshops. - Identify and invite workshop participants such as Cook Islands, Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, or Tuvalu policymakers and local businesses. - Support any on-the-scene and follow-up matters such as filling in a participant list, writing a meeting note, sharing on/offline materials for the workshop.

Qualifications/special skills

A first university degree, Bachelor, in Law, Trade or Economics is required. Work experience in or with Cook Islands, Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, or Tuvalu's Government is required. Knowledge of and familiarity with UNCTAD's methodology of NTM data collection and HS code classification is desirable. A good knowledge of Cook Islands, Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, or Tuvalu's laws and legal system is desirable.

Languages

Fluency written and spoken in English is required. Good knowledge of a national language of Cook Islands, Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, or Tuvalu is desirable.
