Mission and objectives

The purpose of the UN Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) is to coordinate the efforts of the UN Country Team operating in Ukraine to ensure provision of efficient and effective assistance to accelerate the country’s steady progress towards social and economic development, observance of the world’s democratic standards and facilitation of Ukraine’s-world integration process. The UN RC in Ukraine is the designated representative of the Secretary-General and aims to bring together different resident and non-resident UN agencies, funds and programmes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operational activities at a country level. Working closely with the national government in Ukraine, the RCO advocates for the interests and mandates of the UN while drawing on the support and guidance of the entire UN family. The important role of the RC in responding to national needs and priorities includes supporting the Government’s efforts for a coordinated, multidisciplinary response aimed at implementation and monitoring of assistance strategies and programmes.

The UN Volunteer is responsible for delivering communication content promptly, managing the UN’s social media accounts, and providing excellent communication support to the Resident Coordinator

Task description

Under the supervision of the Head of the Resident Coordinator Office and the Head of UNIC, the UN Volunteer is responsible for performing the following tasks:

• Support in managing the UN in Ukraine website and social media outreach;
• Assist in gathering, preparing, translating, and publishing content on the UN website and social media;
• Assist in compiling and sending out newsletters and other periodic content for the media and stakeholders;
• Assist in the preparation and adaptation to the Ukrainian context of the content for
International days and important events, provided by the UN Headquarters.
• Prepare visuals for social media posts and website stories, including taking
photos, recording and editing videos, creating designs and modifying existing
ones.
• Support in drafting press releases, media advisories and impact stories;
• Support in maintaining social media scheduling, as well as reporting;
• Monitor UN agencies' social media for relevant content.
• Assist in social listening and daily media monitoring of the local, regional and
international media outlets for the potential UN reputational risks.
• Upload the communication materials and visuals to SharePoint.
• Support the team organizing events if needed.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
