IDB3513 - IsDB Group Chief Economist Intern

Job Purpose

To provide students and recent graduates with hands-on experience, professional development, and meaningful contributions to departmental projects in a supportive learning environment.

Key Accountabilities

• The successful intern will work closely with a team of data scientists who have passion for numbers and the use of development data to inform decision making.

• Perform aggregation and analyses on large sets of data to extract actionable insights that will help drive decisions across the business 

• Build dashboards and recurring reporting deliverables, empowering automation to support timely and improved business decisions. 

• Communicate data-driven insights and recommendations to management.

• Assist in building and improving data pipelines, including automating data collection and reporting processes.

• Write scripts in either Python or R (mandatory), or any other statistical package to automate repetitive tasks related to data processing and analysis.

Academic and professional qualifications

• Applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Undergraduate student in their final year of study

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s program

  • Currently enrolled in a Doctoral program

  • Graduated with a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree within the past 12 months

Skills, Necessary Knowledge & Languages

• Have the technical competence to perform analytics in one or more of the following areas:

• Coding skills (such as Stata, R or Python)

• Visualization using tools (such as Python, Power-Bi or Tableau)

• MS Office skills

• English - Mandatory

• Arabic - Preferred

Program Duration

• Internship duration: 3 months
