Mission and objectives
The World Health Organization serves as the directing and coordinating authority for public health within the United Nations system. WHO seeks to promote health, ensure everyone can attain the highest level of health, keep the world safe and serve the vulnerable through partnerships, people and countries.
Context
The World Health Organization (WHO) is the specialized United Nations agency responsible for international public health. WHO’s overarching mission is to promote health, keep the world safe, and serve the vulnerable – with a vision of attaining the highest possible level of health for all peoples.
The World Health Organization strives to achieve the highest attainable level of health for all people by leading global efforts to expand universal health coverage, effectively managing health emergencies, and promoting healthier populations. This is accomplished through providing leadership, setting health standards, offering evidence-based policy guidance, delivering technical support to nations, and diligently monitoring global health trends, ultimately working towards a future where everyone, everywhere, can live a healthier life.
In Egypt, WHO works in close partnership with the Ministry of Health and Population (MOHP) and other national stakeholders to advance universal health coverage, strengthen health systems, and improve health security and emergency preparedness. The WHO Country Office provides technical assistance, policy guidance, and capacity-building support across all six WHO health system building blocks: service delivery, health workforce, health information systems, essential medicines, financing, and leadership/governance.
The Reporting Officer UN Volunteer will play a pivotal role in timely documenting and presenting accurate information on the WHO Health emergency Programme (WHE) activities, achievements, and operational challenges, which supports evidence-based decision-making and ensures compliance with the WHO and the donor reporting requirements.
