Mission and objectives
UNFPA is the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency with the mission to deliver a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person's potential is fulfilled. UNFPA calls for the realization of reproductive rights for all and supports access to a wide range of sexual and reproductive health services – including voluntary family planning, maternal health care and comprehensive sexuality education.
UNFPA has been active in Bangladesh since 1974 to achieve the three transformative results - ambitions that promise to change the world for every man, woman and young person to 1) end unmet need for family planning, 2) to end preventable maternal death, and 3) to end gender-based violence and harmful practices. Currently, UNFPA is implementing 10th Country Programme (2022-2026) in Bangladesh. UNFPA’s main office is in Dhaka, while there is a sub-office in Cox’s Bazar to coordinate UNFPA’s humanitarian efforts in response to the Rohingya refugee crisis.

Context
UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, is an international development agency that promotes the right of every woman, man and child to enjoy a life of health and equal opportunity. UNFPA’s new strategic plan (2022-2025), focuses on three transformative results: to end preventable maternal deaths; end unmet need for family planning; and end gender-based violence and harmful practices, including child marriage.
In response to disasters and conflict, UNFPA continues to provide life-saving services to prevent and respond to gender-based violence (GBV) and provides information and services for sexual and reproductive health (SRH), particularly by ensuring that the Minimum Initial Services Package (MISP) is provided. The primary target groups of UNFPA’s humanitarian programming include women of reproductive age, adolescent girls and boys, gender-diverse groups, pregnant women and women with disabilities. UNFPA implements its humanitarian response activities through the Government and non-government implementing partners. UNFPA’s integrated GBV and SRH risk mitigation and life-saving actions, including cash and voucher assistance (CVA) during the last five year’s natural disasters, were considered most essential and critical. These integrated humanitarian interventions require a competent team that quickly mobilizes to effectively respond, both in terms of timeliness and quality.
The Humanitarian Reporting Officer works under the direct supervision of the Humanitarian Specialist will support the implementation of the UNFPA’s humanitarian intervention and effective programme delivery of the Humanitarian Unit.
