Context
This UNV assignment is in the Coordination and Response Planning (CRP) Unit, within OCHA’s Mozambique Country Office, based in Maputo, Mozambique.
The UN Volunteer will support the CRP Unit by contributing to high-quality and timely humanitarian reporting, strategic humanitarian financing initiatives, anticipatory action, and disaster preparedness efforts. The role will involve close collaboration with the OCHA Office in Cabo Delgado, the OCHA Regional Office for Eastern and Southern Africa (ROSEA), other UN agencies, I/NNGOs, and donors.
The key tasks of the CRP Unit are:
• Management of work related to Humanitarian Financing (CERF, ESA RHF, etc.)
• Secretariat of the national Humanitarian Country Team (HCT/HCT Plus)
• Establishment/strengthening of Anticipatory Action frameworks
• Engagement with local actors (Government and NNGOs) at the national level
• Engagement with donors and humanitarian partners at the national level
• Engagement with the OCHA’s regional office in Nairobi (ROSEA) and with HQ in Geneva and New York
Unit’s goals include:
• Humanitarian funds are mobilized and allocated in a timely and efficient manner
• Strategic coordination meetings at the national level are regularly held
• Existing Anticipatory Action Frameworks are strengthened and new ones developed
• Local capacity (government and NNGOs) on humanitarian preparedness and response is strengthened
• Regional and HQ offices are updated and supported as needed

Task description
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Unit, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
• Support overall humanitarian coordination efforts with UN agencies, NGOs, and government partners at the national level.
• Support the implementation of humanitarian financing mechanisms, including CERF and the Mozambique envelope of the Eastern and Southern Africa Humanitarian Fund (ESA HF).
• Contribute to the drafting of various written outputs, including donor reports, allocation strategies, humanitarian updates, talking points, annotated agendas, power points presentations, etc.
• Assist in the planning and implementation of disaster preparedness activities, including the development of the annual multi-hazard emergency preparedness and response plan.
• Support with the strengthening of existing Anticipatory Action frameworks and the
development of new ones.
• Support the organization of meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
• Maintain updated key resources and respond to information requests from partners and colleagues.
• Perform other related tasks as needed
