The assignment is intended to strengthen the capacity and expertise of UNIC Cairo and contribute to the Centre’s efforts to increase public awareness of and support for UN action, including to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals through producing and disseminating high-quality, evidence-based and people-oriented information material and implementing effective communication campaigns, including online. The UN Volunteer will work under the overall guidance of the UNIC Director and the supervision of the UNIC National Information Officer and will perform the assigned duties mentioned below.

Under the direct supervision of the UNIC Cairo National Information Officer, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

• Participate and assist in organizing events to highlight issues or observances about the SDGs and the UN’s action to achieve them in Egypt and Saudi Arabia;
• Help establish and maintain collaboration and partnerships with national and regional identified stakeholders, including media, Government bodies, NGOs, and academia;
• Support in drafting talking points and op-ed articles for senior United Nations officials in Egypt;
• Support in drafting media advisories, press releases, human interest stories, and other communication material;
• Support in content creation for UNIC's online platforms, including website updates and social media posts;
• Support with monitoring news and editorial outlets for content;
• Provide audio-visual support, including photography and videography for social media content and major UN events;
• Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.
