What we are looking for

Candidates with over 3 years experience in Area Management or general managerial positions in a humanitarian/recovery context and previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.

Experience in implementing in-kind assistance and managing cash-based interventions and market based programmes.

Strategic leadership, people management and interpersonal skills.

Candidates with good knowledge of the Ukraine context as well as change management experience will have an added advantage.

Fluency in English, both written and verbal.

What you will do

The purpose of the Area Manager position is to ensure high quality, cost-effective and timely programme/project implementation within the designated geographical area. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide area specific input on CC strategies, Country Strategy and Plan of Action.
  • Implement strategy and recommendations to adjust AOE to the context and needs while promoting localization.
  • Assess needs, develop emergency response (ensuring readiness) and implement response plans for in kind assistance and cash-based interventions and market based programmes.
  • Ensure optimal use of resources within the allocated project budgets and CC strategies, ensuring efficient and cost-effective operations.
  • Organize grants opening and closure meetings at area level making sure projects are operationalized with work plans on timely delivery.
  • Implementation of projects (including master support budget and coordinating input for donor proposals and reports) in the area, in compliance with contractual. commitments (i.e. quality, synergies, timeliness, use of resources) and aligned to regional and global strategies.
  • Represent NRC and networking on area level ensuring good relationship with key international and national stakeholders in the area, including local and regional authorities.
  • Responsible for overall security and safety of staff in the area.
  • Compliance with and adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures.
  • Management and capacity building of project staff and support functions (and Field Office Management) in the area.
  • Member of the Country Management Group (CMG).
  • Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy.
