Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationship
The position of Associate IT Officer (Database & ERP) is assigned to the Infrastructure and Technology Division (ITID) within the Information Technology Department (ITD). You will be based at our Headquarters in Manila, Philippines.

You will report to the designated Technical International Staff and Officer (as applicable).

Your Role
As an Associate IT Officer (Database & ERP), you will be the SQL Server, Azure SQL, and Power BI Administrator is responsible for managing on-premises SQL Server databases, cloud-based Azure SQL (SQL Server PaaS), and Power BI reporting and analytics environments. This role ensures seamless data integration, performance optimization, security, and user access across these platforms to support organizational data management and business intelligence needs.

You will

  • Install, set-up, manage MS SQLSERVER instances on-premises or in virtualized environments
  • Manage MS SQL Server security, including user permissions, roles, and encryption
  • Setup and manage backup/recovery procedures for SQL Server on-premises, MS SQL Server in Azure Virtual Machines (VM) and MS SQL Server PaaS
  • Provide support to multiple applications which uses MS SQL Server such as Enterprise Project Management server, Forex, Helpdesk, Cafeteria POS, and others
  • Optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and resource monitoring
  • Apply patches, updates, and upgrades to ensure system reliability and compliance
  • Deploy and manage Azure SQL Database (SQL Server PaaS) and SQL Server on Azure VMs
  • Improve Azure SQL Database (SQL Server PaaS) performance using tools like Azure Monitor and SQL Analytics
  • Administer Power BI service (cloud) and Power BI Report Server (on-premises)
  • Manage workspaces, datasets, dataflows, and report publishing processes
  • Configure data gateways for secure connectivity between on-premises SQL Server, Azure SQL and other data sources with Power BI
  • Monitor usage, performance, and license compliance using Power BI Admin Portal and audit logs
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues between data sources and Power BI dashboards/reports

Qualifications

You will need:

  • Bachelors degree in Information Systems Management, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or relevant fields. Preferably with advanced training in database administration
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in MS SQL & Power BI Admin
  • Experience in the administration, installation, maintenance and tuning of MS SQL Server (2000, 2005, 2008, 2008 R2, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2022)
  • Proficiency in Azure SQL management (Azure Portal, Azure CLI, PowerShell scripting)
  • Familiarity with Azure services like Azure Data Factory, Azure Monitor and Microsoft Entra ID
  • Strong knowledge of Power BI administration (DAX, Power Query, gateway setup)
  • Experience with database migration, design, optimization, and security best practices
  • Written and verbal proficiency in English
  • Proven ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders

This appointment is open to internal and external applicants.

This position is funded by a temporary funding source (e.g., a trust fund, financing facility, or capital expenditure budget) and therefore, the renewal of the appointment and its duration are subject to the availability of the funding source.

This is a fixed term appointment with option to renew, initially for a period of up to 3 years, or up to the Normal Retirement Date (NRD), whichever comes earlier, for the purpose(s) and conditions determined by ADB, in accordance with Administrative Order No. 2.01 (Recruitment and Appointment). After the initial fixed-term period, ADB may choose to renew the appointment for up to an additional 3 years or not renewed. This decision will be made in the overall interest of ADB, based on factors including but not limited to the requirement of Staff’s particular blend of skills and experience for the medium-term work program of the organizational unit, sufficient funding to cover the renewed period, and Staff’s performance and suitability for employment. There is no limit to the number of renewals up to NRD. However, this appointment is not convertible to a regular appointment.
