Mission and objectives

UNICEF DNK organization mission TBD

Context

UNICEF Supply Division works to ensure equitable and inclusive access to essential supplies and services for children and their families in development, humanitarian, and fragile contexts. These supplies are critical to saving lives, supporting children’s health and education, and protecting them from abuse, exploitation, and neglect. As the UN’s largest end-to-end supply chain entity, UNICEF leverages its global reach, market influence, supply chain expertise, and partnerships with governments, civil society, the private sector, industry, and other stakeholders to meet children’s needs and protect their rights around the world.

The assignment is with Supply Division’s partnership unit – the Strategy, Partnership and Knowledge Management Centre (SPKC) - and its overall purpose is to generate partnership support to the Division, in order to achieve results for children through strategic supply chain activities, with any risks duly assessed and mitigated.

Task description

Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Partnership Manager - and in close liaison with key stakeholders within the Supply Division, and in other UNICEF offices and National Committees - the Partnership Specialist will:

· Manage assigned partnerships: this includes developing partnership goals and strategy with the assigned partners; driving their implementation through annual workplans; facilitating and contributing to the development of new partnership collaboration areas; relationship cultivation; generating internal and external visibility; and annual collaborative reviews and reporting of partnership achievements and lessons learned.

· Support Supply Division’s management of contributions in kind (CIKs) from partners: in collaboration with the contributions in kind (CIK) focal point, coordinate the contributions in kind (CIKs) process for Supply Division, ensuring proper assessment of product offers, quality, value, and potential risks to UNICEF.

· Development of proposals and investment cases: in collaboration with colleagues in the partnership team, support the dissemination of the Supply Division’s investment cases with internal and external stakeholders and partners, and coordinate the development of proposals for partners as relevant.

· Coordinate input from technical leads/internal stakeholders to respond to partnership enquiries received by the Division. · Coordinate the preparation of partnership legal agreements, by UNICEF’s policies.

· Act as focal point for Supply Division’s engagement in global multistakeholder platforms and events (e.g., Davos, COP).

· Provide strategic, logistical, and programmatic support to Supply Division Senior Management and other UNICEF staff on key priority partnerships as needed under the Priority Partnership Coordination Mechanism, helping to raise awareness within UNICEF and with partners on UNICEF supply objectives and priorities.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:

· Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and taking an active part in UNV activities (for instance, in events that mark International Volunteer Day);

· Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;

· Provide annual and end-of-assignment self-reports on UN Volunteer actions, results, and opportunities.

· Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;

· Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers;

· Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

Results/expected outputs

As an active UNICEF team member, efficient, timely, responsive, client-friendly, and high-quality support is rendered to UNICEF and its beneficiaries in the accomplishment of her/his functions, including:
