Context


In this context, the UN Youth University Volunteers Communications Associate will support UNFPA’s communications efforts to enhance its visibility, engage wider audiences, and promote the impact of its work through digital storytelling, content creation and strategic social media and influencer engagement.

Task description

As part of the UNFPA Odisha State Office under the direct supervision of the Head of Office and in close coordination with the Communications and Media unit at UNFPA Country Office, UN Youth University Volunteer Communications Associate will be responsible for undertaking the following activities:

● Contribute to the development of communication materials such as leaflets, posters, and digital slides using Canva and or other design software.
● Help prepare basic content calendar, briefs for events, campaigns, and field visits
● Take photos and short videos during events/field visits using a smartphone and/or camera (guidance will be provided)
● Support event coordination, on-ground communications coverage, and documentation
● Draft short stories or testimonials capturing human-interest aspects of the programme
● Assist in organizing and archiving photo/video content and communication files
● Help monitor social media engagement and compile basic analytics
● Provide support for proofreading, formatting, and reviewing content
● Liaise with the Country Office Communications Team to highlight state-specific activities
● Monthly reporting to supervisor (State Head Odisha)
    

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are required to:
● Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day);
● Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;
● Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities;
● Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;
● Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers;
● Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.
