Context
The UN Volunteer will support the Communications Unit in delivering impactful communication initiatives that showcase UNOPS India’s contribution to national development priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals. This role will involve content creation, media outreach, and engagement with diverse stakeholders to enhance the visibility of UNOPS’ work in India.
Task description
Under the direct supervision of the Communications Associate, the UN University Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
• Support the preparation, editing, and dissemination of multimedia content (including success stories, videos, case studies, and social media posts) highlighting UNOPS projects in India.
• Assist in maintaining and regularly updating the UNOPS India website and social media channels, ensuring alignment with UNOPS branding and communications guidelines.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of communications campaigns, including those linked to UN International Days and project milestones.
• Maintain and update contact databases for media, civil society, government, and development partners to ensure effective outreach.
• Support the organisation of events, workshops, field visits, and press briefings, including logistical and communication-related tasks.
• Assist in monitoring media coverage and producing periodic visibility reports.
• Undertake basic research on communications trends, audience engagement, and stakeholder analysis.
• Provide writing and editorial support for reports, project briefs, and knowledge products.
Furthermore, UN Volunteers are required to:
• Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for in-stance in events that mark International Volunteer Day);
• Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;
• Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities;
• Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;
• Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers;
• Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible
