The Office of the Controller (CTL) is responsible for the accounting of the financial transactions of the Bank, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of financial reporting. CTL plays a crucial role in financial management, implementing controls to safeguard the Bank’s financial assets and ensuring compliance with internal policies and due regard to external regulations, which critically supports AIIB’s the Bank's credit-rating process. CTL is also responsible for overseeing payments for the Bank’s corporate suppliers, staff remuneration and benefits, and the disbursements of loans and equity portfolio.

The selected candidate will be responsible for assisting in AIIB’s financial accounting and reporting, particularly in performing the valuation review of AIIB's financial instruments and the financial performance analysis of the Bank.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform quarterly reviews of valuation results for all financial instruments, including analysis of fair value movements, assessment of valuation methodologies, and identification of anomalies in valuation inputs and outputs.
  • Assist in general financial reporting duties relating to the valuation of all financial instruments, and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards (e.g. IFRS 13).
  • Gather, document, and translate business requirements related to valuation into functional system specifications for financial reporting purposes and communicate to various external parties, such as system vendors.
  • Manage the scheduling and organization of valuation-related meetings, ensuring timely circulation of agendas, meeting invites, and supporting materials.
  • Engage with Treasury, Investment Operations, and other relevant teams for valuation-related matters.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and other reporting duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant practical experience working in an international bank and/or large organization. Previous experience in financial accounting and reporting is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or above in related fields.
  • A Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation from a reputable and internationally recognized institution would be an advantage.
  • Strategic problem solver with high sensitivity and sound knowledge of financial accounting and reporting (IFRS standards), and advanced knowledge of statistics and data analysis. Previous experience in valuation review is highly advantageous.
  • Proficient in relevant accounting and reporting software system, as well as good understanding of core banking systems that can handle the process of loan investments, bond securities investments, derivatives, and equity.
  • Strong organizational skills. Able to manage a tight schedule.
  • A team player who can communicate for results.
