Unit Context
The ITS Country Engagement unit (ITSCE) delivers digital support for global and country-specific products, supports systems aligned with the new Country Engagement model, and provides geospatial solutions for geo-tagging of projects to improve spatial visibility and impact tracking. It also drives the delivery of AI-powered business solutions to support business priorities and accelerate data-driven decision-making across the institution.
ITSCE is looking for an experienced Senior Technical Lead to support the delivery of the unit’s capital work program on technology solutions tailored to Geospatial technologies to ensure technological support for operations.
Specific Responsibilities
- Lead the technical delivery of the following capital assets in the Geospatial Solutions product line: Enhanced spatial indicators in the Geospatial poverty portal, Digital Monitoring Reporting and Verification (dMRV) observatory for carbon markets.
- Plan the technical delivery of the internal and external Geospatial platform modernization, pilot Digital Twins for WBG operations projects, and support strategic partnerships with IFIs to promote the reuse of Geospatial technologies.
- Serve as the primary technical authority, make critical architectural decisions and guide the technical direction of projects and products.
- Design and review system architecture, establish coding standards and best practices, and mentor junior and mid-level developers.
- Evaluate new technologies, conduct technical risk assessments, and ensure code quality through reviews and technical oversight.
- Break down complex technical requirements into actionable tasks, collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions, and lead technical discussions and decision-making processes.
- Serve as the escalation point for challenging technical problems and provide guidance on performance optimization and scalability considerations.
