Your team
Your role
- perform initial investigations on datasets to discover patterns, spot anomalies or outliers, test hypotheses and check assumptions;
- use statistical tools and data visualisation techniques to summarise complex internal datasets and provide key insights;
- build predictive analytics models using machine learning algorithms;
- prepare reports and dashboards, also with the aid of artificial intelligence (AI), to convincingly communicate findings to the various stakeholders;
- use and experiment with different tools, techniques and technologies available at the ECB, such as R, Tableau and Power BI, to enhance data pipelines;
- identify and acquire new datasets relevant to the Language Services Division’s operations and coordinate their integration into the Division’s custom Business Intelligence system, ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations and responsible AI practices.
Qualifications, experience and skills
- a master’s degree or equivalent in communications, data science, statistics or another relevant field (see How you can join us for details on degree equivalences);
- in addition to the above, a minimum of three years’ professional experience in an analytics team responsible for supporting data-driven strategic and operational decision making in the field of communications;
- proven track record as an excellent communicator capable of drafting and presenting compelling and statistically-supported narratives to senior stakeholders from complex data;
- extensive experience analysing communication content metrics using standard statistical techniques, such as inferential statistics, Bayesian statistics, time series analysis, multivariate analysis, analytical tools, such as R, SPSS and Stata, as well as strong database query skills, such as SQL and HiveQL;
- strong familiarity with data visualisation techniques and proven experience with some of the market-leading tools, such as R, Tableau and Power BI;
- an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
- a PhD in communications, data science, statistics or business intelligence with a strong quantitative focus;
- sound scripting skills in Python;
- experience in designing and enhancing data pipelines;
- proven exposure to AI solutions in the area of data mining and analysis;
- familiarity with the General Data Protection Regulation.
