Context

The UN Volunteer will be expected to assist in amplifying the IOM’s work in India through print and social media, production of short videos and newsletters. The UNV will be guided by the one of the programme team leaders in terms of setting the objectives of the placement, orientation to various programme portfolios and constant supervision throughout the duration of the placement.

Task description

Under the direct supervision of the Head of Office, the UN University Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
1. Support in amplifying the IOM’s key messages on safe, orderly and regular migration through social media and print media.
2. Assist in the production of short videos and newsletters.
3. Assist in conceptualising and developing migrant-oriented literature
4. Assist the IOM Programme Team Members in ensuring that holistic and accurate infor-mation is made available in both print and digital formats to various stakeholders, including aspiring migrants, students, and private recruitment agents, to create awareness.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are required to:
• Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for in-stance in events that mark International Volunteer Day);
• Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;
• Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities;
• Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publica-tions/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;
• Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers;
• Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.
